GDCC Public Service Clean-up this SATURDAY (8/22) from 9-11

Reminder — GDCC Public Service Clean-up this SATURDAY (8/22) from 9-11

Thanks for volunteering to take part in this summer’s GDCC public service event!

We’ll meet at 9 am sharp this Saturday, at the Gloucester High Parking Lot, near the football stands..  We’ll be done by 11, maybe a little earlier.

We’ll have special collection bags, thanks to Gloucester’s DPW, but suggest that you bring the following:

1.  Comfortable, sturdy gloves;

2.  Sunscreen and bug repellent;

3.  A small note pad and pen (to jot down the location of junk TVs, hazardous materials, and other stuff that we should let the city know about).

4.  And of course, bring along a friend or family member!

I’m looking forward to seeing you all — and helping spruce up Gloucester!

Thanks, Mike Wheeler

Dahlias All Natural Granola At Cape Ann Farmer’s Market

Dahlia is a childhood friend of the Mrs.  I caught up with her at The Cape Ann Farmer’s Market yesterday where she was selling her all natural granola for the first time in Gloucester.

As a hard core Diabetic she set out to develop something that she could eat that would be tasty and good for you while messing around in the kitchen with her beautiful daughter.  The result is her line of Dahlias All Natural Granola.  Look for the video with Dahlia at 1PM

GMG’s David Cox Poses With A Woman Way Out Of His League

David Cox Poses With Random Hottie

I asked David if he was trying to compensate for other inadequacies with the huge lens.  Next thing you know he’ll go out and buy himself a convertible corvette. 🙂

All kidding aside, I really appreciate David’s contributions to GMG.  Look for Part I of his slide show from the August Block Party at 8AM today.

Great Teamwork Once Again Shows What Is Possible

Look for The Block Party Red Carpet Celebrity Slide Show At 8AM

A Complete Team Effort Proved Once Again That The Power Of Pulling In The Same Direction For A Great Event Can Reap Huge Rewards For Our Entire Community!

Great job by my fellow Block Party Committee members once again.  Also a great job by the folks in City Government and the Police and Fire Departments.

Special thanks to some unsung heros who also helped tremendously during the event- Rick Moore, Donna Ardizzone, and Bob Gillis who helped clean the streets.

Thanks To the DPW for leaving the extra barrells.

Big thanks to The Cape Ann YMCA Clean Team who you will see in a video later today helping to clean the streets spotless at the end of the night.

I’d like to give a huge personal thank you to our Good Morning Gloucester Soldiers- Sharon who manned the GMG Block Party Celebrity Red Carpet Station (Slide show coming at 8AM), Joey and Frank Ciolino who built the backdrop and helped throughout the event at the media presentation truck and David Cox who will undoubtedly provide us with hundreds more photos from this magnificent evening .

Thanks to the people who provided the media presentations, the Art Haven Folks who provided children activities, and Georgie and Erika Hansen who were doing the face painting.

Thanks to all the musicians and performers who donated their time on one of the busiest nights of the year when they could be playing paid gigs elsewhere but play instead for free because they too realize that sometimes it’s not about getting paid.

The Downtown Merchants and restaurants once again put their best face forward and showed what a brilliant  jewel we have in Downtown Gloucester.

Charlee Bianchini, a correspondent for the Cape Ann Beacon approached me about a month ago to do a story about GMG, my involvement as a part of the team that brings you the Block Parties and my love of Gloucester.

Click this link for the online version of the story

I set up my camera for the interview and videotaped us sitting at The Lone Gull while she asked me questions for the article.  The video is uploading now and I’ll post it here once It gets done rendering.  Charlee will be heading to China in a couple days to do some teaching.  She is in the process of starting her own blog and hopefully she will follow through with it and send us pictures and stories from China.

The Auction is Thursday Night for more details click this text

Hi,

Frieda asked me to contact you about the handbag contest auction that’s coming up. As you know, Again and Again is sponsoring a handbag contest which has been running for the past month or so. We have gotten a lot of entries, and they are all going to be displayed on Thursday night in the shop, where each entry will be able to be bid on. All proceeds will go directly to the Gloucester and Rockport Youth Sailing Program. We have over thirty extremely creative entries and we would love if you could post the information for Thursday night on your site. It’s open to absolutely everyone. There will be light food and drink, as well as door prizes. We would also love to have you stop by on Thursday to see what what we’ve put together, if you get a chance.

Thanks,
WILLIE NORRIS
