Here’s a video with Renee performing “Stormy Monday” …. Smokin!
My View of Life on the Dock
Tomorrow (9/17/13) we will be taping two show of Local Music Seen with Allen Estes.
If you’d like to be in the audience, come to the Cape Ann TV Studio in Blackburn Park (directions here) at 2pm. Ring the doorbell and say, I’m here for Local Music Seen. Don’t worry about what you look like, you won’t be on camera. Your presence allows the performers to connect with a live audience, which gives the show an added dimension. And your clapping, cheering, whistling, etc. will be captured on the soundtrack.
We will be taping a show with Toni Ann Enes followed by a show with Marina Evans. Hope to see you in the live studio audience.

Watch the summer wind down at the CCQ/Goddesses’ final acoustic gig of the summer @ Captain Carlo’s starting at 3pm on Sunday, September 15th. Don’t let it go out with a whimper!

CRAZY MOON ~ Columnist and actor Gordon Baird is staging 8 performances of CRAZY MOON, an original, 10 song musical, starring Gordon but also featuring Kathleen Brown and musician John Hyde at the new Rocky Neck Cultural Center in Gloucester (6 Wonson St.) the last 2 weeks of Sept. The plot is adventurous, mysterious and occasionally swashbuckling. The play is exciting, unexpected, mysterious and technically very innovative at the end.
Thu-Fri-Sat shows at 8 pm and Sunday at 5 pm. Tickets: $10 – kids $5 – all can be bought at the door at showtime. Run time is around 75 mins, so it’s Dadfriendly too. For more info, 978-283-0390 or gordon@rampartsfarm.com. Hope you can make it.
The Festival features ten hours of great live music starting outdoors on the grounds from 1-7pm with some of the North Shore’s best musicians covering: bluegrass, traditional and contemporary folk, Celtic, country and blues, jump, jive and boogie. Great food and beverages will be sold by Smokin’ Jim’s BBQ with beer and wine on sale, as well as local crafts and children’s activities. Admission for the daytime music is by donation.
It all continues indoors on our dance floor from 7:30-11:30pm, featuring the great, KBMG band (King, Brown, Mattacks and Ginandes). Advance tickets for the evening dance party are available at Gloucester Music on Main Street and the Plum Cove Grind in Lanesville for $12 until the day of the event. Tickets will be $15 at the door and you can purchase during the daytime music event.
Visit our website: www.lanesvillecommunitycenter.org for more information on the outdoor music lineup and times, as well as directions, parking information and our other upcoming events.

Wow, what a lineup!
DOORS AT 7:30PM * SHOW AT 8:00PM

Last night Allen Estes performed his hit, “Not With Ya Hands” about Gloucester’s hero Howard Blackburn at the Alchemy Bistro Wicked Tuna Challenge, which was filmed for next season’s Wicked Tuna by the Nat Geo crew. And our own intrepid Lisa Smith caught all the action for Cape Ann TV. We can’t show you everything we shot until early next year when Wicked Tuna Season 3 premieres, but we can show you Allen’s performance right now and you can catch a glimpse of the film crew at the end.
Best of all, you can see Allen Estes live with a new six-piece, all-star band on October 5th at the historic Larcom Theatre in Beverly. You’ll hear old favorites along with new music he hasn’t yet recorded. Allen — with his new band featuring multi-platinum guitarist David Brown with Fairport Convention founder Dave Mattacks on drums, Matt Leavenworth on fiddle, Steve Burke on keyboards and Wolf Ginandes on Bass — will have you on your feet!
This will be a night you won’t soon forget. Good seats are still available. Get them here.
To get you in the mood, watch Allen’s Souls of the Sea special tonight at 6:30 on Cape Ann TV Channel 12.
It’s back to the Three Stooges Trio this Thursday, so please welcome back that yeti of the guitar, Mr. Rikky “King” Russell. Borne and bread in and of the blues, this cat has been a fixture on the Boston scene for many decades and really knows how to twist your dials for maximum squirming. Even better, that amazing saxist and singer, that major teen idol Mr. Mario Perrett, will be on hand to help us all out. Unfortunately, our drummer under contract, Mr. Edd “Duodenum” Scheer is suffering from rupture of the deep and will be unable to join us, so, we have enlisted the aid of that swarthy bongo boy from the “Love Dogs”, Mr. “Downtown” Steve Brown. Known to change clothing in a phone booth, he’s set to fly in on time to rock the house. It’s gonna be a great nite of flying fur, bad jokes and misplaced observations. Czech it out! Hours 8:30 till 11:30.
But wait! There’s more! I’ll be hanging out at the same time same bat-channel location to witness the arrival of Ms. Mari Martin this Saturday nite at the Rhumb Line. My favorite vocalist, she’ll put a smile on your face and blisters on your feet.
She’s bringing the Low yo-yo band to prepare you for doomsday. That’s Mr. Bogus on guitar, John “Cameron” Swazey, on keys, Roger Broccolibanque, on pistons, and yours truly on base. Music starts at 9:30 when we start cranking that bumper jack between your head and the ceiling. Count on it!
Ricky “King” Russell

And for all you folks into video poker and free jell-o:
I’ll be down at the Rose Baker Senior Center next Monday from 1 to 3 with the Good Old salty Jazz Band, cranking out all your favorite hits from the teens and twenties. It’s really a blast. Hope to see you there.
By the way, I’ve finally succumbed to the temptations of the web, and now have a Facebook page. Soon’ I’ll learn how to use it. Here is link:https://www.facebook.com/pages/Davesags-blues-party/1413082458915228
Please don’t clog it up with acne remedies, anti-gluten rants or conspiracy theories. Ockham’s Razor works for me. I got enough problems….
And again, thank you for your continued support. Without you we would be nothing. Live music is best!

Hi Joey,
I’d like to introduce myself, I’m a small businesswoman here in Gloucester, my name’s Julie Cleveland, and I teach and play piano – my biz is the Cape Ann Piano Studio, down on Exchange St.
Recently Brendan Pike (great photographer/videographer here in town!) shot a promo video for my studio, wondering if you might want to post it on your blog?
I’d really appreciate it. Love reading the blog, esp. all the music stuff! 🙂
Thanks,
Julie Cleveland
