Gary is extremely talented and great live. Watch his star rise over the next year or two.

THE BEATLES AT 50
Beatles tribute band, film, plus new short this Saturday
Acclaimed local Beatles tribute Studio Two will kick off the night taking moviegoers and fans back to the early 1960s when The Beatles were taking the world by storm.
In the new documentary short “The Beatles Boston,” filmmaker and lifelong Beatles fan Eric Green examines The Beatles’ history with the city of Boston. Featured interviews include Cha-Chi Loprete (the host of WZLX’s “Breakfast With The Beatles” program) and Tim Riley (NPR music critic and John Lennon biographer). The film illustrates why Boston has always loved The Beatles and continues to today.
The feature-length “The Beatles: First U.S. Visit” documents the Fab Four during their two week trip to New York, Washington, D.C., and Miami Beach. Footage includes an intimate look at the Beatles off-guard, off- and on-stage, their historic appearance on the Ed Sullivan show, and the rise of Beatlemania.
Ticket prices are $14.00 for adults, $12.00 for Cinema members. Advance tickets are suggested, and may be purchased at www.CapeAnnCinema.com.

Earlier this afternoon I interviewed Johnny Winter and Paul Nelson, who is Jonny’s manager, producer of his latest album, “Roots” (which I highly recommend) along with his upcoming album “Step Back”, due out in April — and he plays guitar in Johnny’s band.
Johnny and Paul talk about their influences, the Blues, sound, performing, recording … Johnny even tells us how he practiced screaming when he was young. Plus they give us a feel for just how hot this upcoming show on Jan 31 will be.

I’m taping an interview with rock-blues legend Johnny Winter tomorrow and I’ll post the podcast of it on GMG. Johnny Winter is an icon. One of the best guitar players alive, excellent voice, and perhaps one of the best blues producers ever.
Next month Johnny Winter turns 70 and has a brand new 4-CD set coming out. In two weeks (1/31) he’s performing at the Larcom Theatre in Beverly (there are still a few tickets left. Get them here.)
His label sent me a couple of his critically acclaimed 2011 CD, “Roots”, which is spectacular and proves his status as one of the greatest blues men of all time (as if anyone would argue).

Cape Ann TV’s Jim Capillo has edited the historic Cape Ann Winter Solstice Concert on Dec 21, 2013 at the Gloucester’s Meetinghouse into a 2 hour special that will premiere on Cape Ann TV Channel 12 this Saturday and Sunday (Jan 18 & 19) at 8PM. Jim organized a 3 camera shoot using his wicked cool crane and film crew Roger Ward and Tina Greel from Local Music Seen. The result is a gorgeous production that you truly don’t want to miss.
Thank god Chris “Stovall” Brown is coming in this Thursday nite: it’s been a while since I had to deflect a whole boatload of invective, innuendo and out the other. Chris, besides being a fabulous guitarist ,uvula-waggler, and eidetic librarian of all things recordable, is simply a joy to work with. Plus, he makes me laugh. You may wet your pants watching this guy sing whilst playing his axe with his dentures. I’m always amazed. Eardrum duties by our fallow-headed buddy, Mr. Steevee Chaggaris. I’m on base.We’re keeping this a trio so that we can flood the stage next week with the likes of the Good Old Salty Jazz Band. Sex after menopause? I can’t remember….

Johnny Winter review in Boston Blues Society: Before the set, I asked him what was on his list for the night? “Chuck. The Stones. Muddy and Robert Johnson?” and he nodded and said “Yep. That pretty much takes care of it” and he proved to be a man of his word. Opening with “Johnny B. Good” the hour long performance kept building momentum song after song. “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “It’s All Over Now”, “Boney Maroney”, “Got My Mojo Working”; “Highway 61″ and “Dust My Broom” on slide were all done to perfection; and the packed house loved it. see full story here.
