Sometimes you just gotta cross the bridge
Last night, a number of our Gloucester friends came to the Robert Randolph & The Family Band concert we presented at The Cabot in Beverly, some of whom exclaimed, “Boy it’s just amazing that we can see this level of music so close to home!”
Indeed, Beverly is about as close as a national touring artist, the likes of Robert Randolph, is likely to get to Gloucester. So perhaps it’s time for us to extend our notion of “just down the road” to include Beverly, which is … dare I say … over the bridge.
Tomorrow we’re bringing three of the hottest Boston area bands to the Cabot stage: Boston Music Award winners Ruby Rose Fox and Jesse Dee with Salem’s Sarah & the Wild Versatile. We believe all three bands will soon be playing much bigger venues — that are much farther away than Beverly and — oh yeah — charge a whole lot more for tickets. ALL AGES seats for tomorrow’s concert start at $15 (the same as it costs to see Jurassic World at the mall). It’s a great show for your kids, who’ll be able to say “I saw them up close at The Cabot!” Good seats are still available here.

Let’s show our friends from warm climates how we New Englanders Party in Winter
Tomorrow (Sat 2/21) we welcome Memphis Soul legend and Stax recording artist, Booker T. Jones and his hot young band to the Larcom Theatre for his only New England stop on this U.S. tour. Even though they’ve toured the world, I’ll bet they haven’t seen this much snow on the ground very often — and probably never in the Boston area.

“Tenderness” – the perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day
OK, it’s gonna snow on Valentine’s day — maybe another foot or more. You could amp up the #Snanger OR you could chill by the fire and take your sweetie pie to see Booker T. Jones next Saturday (2/21) down the road at Beverly’s Larcom Theatre.
What could be more romantic than a concert with the greatest Hammond B3 groove-master of all time (and a Grammy-winner and Rock n Roll Hall of Famer) in a gorgeous fully-restored, historic theatre, built in 1912 (same year as Fenway Park) with perfect sound?
Well, here’s what’s even more romantic than that … local rising stars Sarah Seminski & Eric Reardon are opening the show. Here’s a video of them performing “Try A Little Tenderness” at the Larcom back in November. Now, Otis Redding recorded with Stax Records at the same time as Booker T. & the M.G.’s, who backed Otis on his version of this song. Romance will just envelope the whole place next Saturday. We’re not kidding — these two are headed for stardom
All of you who know us also know that we LOVE to find young, talented, rising stars and put them on stage with music legends. But that process isn’t as easy as you might think. We’re blessed to live in an area teeming with young talent. The trick is to match them with the appropriate national recording star to produce a show that works musically and, at the same time, introduces the young musicians to fans who will appreciate their talent.
I truly believe we’ve done this with our next show on Saturday, February 21, down the road at Downtown Beverly’s Larcom Theatre, where Sarah Seminski & Eric Reardon open for Stax Recording artist and Memphis Soul Legend Booker T. Jones (of Booker T. and the M.G.’s). The thing is: Booker T. is still winning Grammys with his hot new band full of extremely talented young players, which makes this concert even more exciting.
Good seats are still available (get them here). So get ready for a hot night of rockin’ blues & soul with the greatest Hammond B3 groove-master of all time and a stage full of bright, young talent destined for stardom!

Rhythm, Funk N’ Blues Fest Beverly, MA. At 8pm on Saturday, November 22nd, M.E. Productions presents a triple bill of funk and R&B acts at the historic Larcom Theatre.
Get on over the bridge. It’s gonna be a good one!
Henley-Douglas RnB stands above the pack as the funk band to keep your eye on. The Delta Generators are known as one of the most original Rhythm and Blues band on the Boston Scene. And a handful of special guests will make appearances including Eric Reardon, Sarah Seminski of Big Ol’ Dirty Bucket, Garret Savluk of The Boston Horns, and Yahuba Torres of The Ryan Montbleau Band. Tickets for this concert start at $19.
Salem native Henley Douglas, master sax-man co-fronts HDRnB (Henley-Douglas Rhythm and Blues) with soulful vocalist Douglas Gimbel . An original R&B/soul/groove band that performs nationwide and always delivers the mega-funk, this 6 piece ensemble blows the doors off any venue with sax and trombone, backed with fine percussion and strings. Big sound and funky grooves. The word is out- HDRnB will keep you movin’ all night.
Henley tapped another Salem native and fixture of the local music scene, Eric Reardon to heat things up with his stinging guitar licks that have been lauded by regional music giants like James Montgomery and the late great Johnny Winter. Reardon will be performing with Boston’s Sarah ‘Lil Shrimp’ Seminski, lead vocalist of the funk outfit Big Ol’ Dirty Bucket who will belt out some classic funk/Soul and modern Hip Hop/R&B with her powerful pipes.
That would be a hot show right there. But hold the phone, there’s a third act on the bill.
The Delta Generators are going to play their only show this Fall on the same night. If you’ve seen the Generators, you know. If not, they are one of the most original, funky, soulful Rhythm & Blues bands Beantown has birthed in a long time. Deeply rooted in Delta and North Mississippi blues, while throwing in elements of rock, funk, soul and rootsy Americana, local favorites the Delta Generators are a fine-tuned, well-oiled machine if ever there was one.
Bam! Now that’s a show. Noooooooo, these cats aren’t done yet.
Sprinkle on two very special guests to add flavor to this already smokin’ gumbo. Puerto Rican conga king Yahuba Torres, known best as the percussion wizard in The Ryan Montbleau Band will add some jammy Latin rhythms. Garret Savluk of The Boston Horns, and formerly of Heavy Metal Horns, will bring his bad-action trumpet sound to the night.
Now that’s a festival (as the billing implies). Seth McNally, founder of M.E. Productions and promoter of the event adds, “The show will culminate with a stage jam of all the evening’s performers bringing together the biggest sound in funk, blues and soul you’ll hear this far north of the bayou.”
Henley Douglas adds with barely contained excitement, “This show is a reunion of myself, Garret Savluk and Craig Rawding (Delta Generators) of the Heavy Metal Horns. Craig was the lead vocalist for HMH and toured nationally with the band. Garret and I have toured throughout the US, Europe and Japan. Taking the stage with Garret Savluk who has had a big influence on my musical career for almost 25 years, will make this one of the best shows I’ve played this year. With Garret and Yahuba and Seminski playing this show, the music is going to be awesome!”
