Leigh Slingluff show at Lone Gull Coffeehouse until February 28th
Lone Gull Coffeeshop 146 Main Street, Gloucester, MA, stands out with local art. Two dynamite mini solo shows are currently on view:
One exhibit features 20 oil paintings, acrylic paintings and gouache drawings by fine artist, Leigh Slingluff. Slingluff works on Cape Ann and resides in Rockport. You may have seen her award-winning painting on exhibit during Cape Ann Plein Air or in the seArts Art Loan @Bass Rocks annual exhibit.

Paintings by William (‘Bill’) A. Travis are also on view www.watravis.com along the brick gallery wall.

Lone Gull maintains a sign up sheet for 2 featured art exhibits monthly. They have begun booking into 2018 (although scattered months with 1 wall may still be available)
Bob Stephenson’s painting is on permanent display.

Lone Gull gives space to various art books and an entry peppered with local current notices, too.

Live Lunch From Paprika Grill
Please stop by and continue to show support for one of our newest and tastiest spots. Even after he and his girlfriend were robbed at masked-knifepoint, Emrah is still in great spirits! He exudes all the qualities and spirit of a true local trying to serve his community and offer fresh healthy food for the masses. Today is a 50% tip day in my book of life!
And just as James Dowd promised, it truly is THE BEST fresh made falafel on this side of the planet!
Chef Emrah Arslan is open and serving!

Ohhh my, the GRILL at PAPRIKA!

BREAKING NEWS: PAPRIKA GRILL ROBBED
Dear Readers,
I am not sure the exact details and don’t want to post inaccurately until we learn more, but what we do know is that Paprika Grill, the new restaurant on Washington Street, was robbed yesterday. No one was injured and the Gloucester Daily Times will surely be bringing the facts. As a community let’s show them our support. I’ll be picking up lunch there today, even if the food wasn’t fantastic, but it is, and the owner Emrah Arslan is friendly and very hardworking. Everything on the menu is super delicious and I especially LOVE their felafel with salad–simply outstanding! Dinner for the family too some night this week 🙂
Paprika Grill is located at 185 Washington Street, kitty corner to George’s Coffee Shop. They are open from 11am to 9pm daily. For take out call (978) 551-8186.
See Joey’ excellent post about paprika Grill here.
NEW SEASON WITH DUCKWORTH’S BISTROT AND LIT HOUSE BOOK CLUB EVENTS
Chef Ken Duckworth out did himself in the fabulous and delicious department!
Jenn did an outstanding job leading the discussion last night at The Great Gatsby book club event. A mandatory high school English class read for many, nonetheless, it was very enjoyable to read again, and especially interesting in light of our current political climate.
Lit House Co-founders Jenn Monroe and Chris Anderson
The next Lit House Book Club @ Duckworth’s Bistrot event is Old Filth on Sunday, March 19th, with moderator Laura Harrington. Laura is an “award winning playwright, lyricist and librettist, winner of the 2008 Kleban Award for “most promising librettist in American musical theatre,” has written dozens of plays, musicals, operas and radio plays, which have been produced in 28 states, Canada and Europe, in venues ranging from Off-Broadway to Houston Grand Opera to the Paris Cinemateque. She has twice won both the Massachusetts Cultural Council Award in playwriting and the Clauder Competition for best new play in New England. Harrington teaches playwriting at MIT where she was awarded the 2009 Levitan Prize for Excellence in Teaching. Alice Bliss, (Penguin/ Viking) her first novel, won the 2012 Massachusetts Book Award in Fiction. Her second novel, A Catalog of Birds (Europa), launches in July.” For tickets and more information go to the Lit House website here.

THANK YOU PASSPORTS FOR AN OUTSTANDING DINING EXPERIENCE!
Chef Eric’s Spanish inspired menu was beyond delicious and Nick Defasio from M.S. Walker selected some pretty amazing wines to go with. I highly recommend trying both of these outstanding wines and am planning to look for them at our local shops–a lovely white, the Burga’ns, Albarino, that Eric paired with a haddock entree; and a rich chocolatey red, the Casa Castilo, Monastrell, accompanying beautiful smoked paprika pork with grilled vegetables.
Passports wine dinners are typically in the $40.00 to 45.00 dollar range and I simply don’t know how they can afford to do that, truly an exceptional value The four course dinners are wonderfully inventive, the portions generous, and the wines, top of the line. Every third Thursday of the month – GO!

Press Restaurant on Lexington Avenue
Magnolia is getting a new restaurant at 2 Lexington Avenue. The owner is Scott Spencer, with his major helpers, Maddi and Emily, gave me the opportunity to have a peek at this great addition to Lexington Avenue.
This place looks great and look forward to having breakfast or lunch there.
