Hi Joey,

The Parade of Sails and Schooner Race were magnificent as viewed from the Schooner Adventure.   We had a couple of Sea Scouts aboard helping with the lines and a great variety of past and present Adventure supporters.   Capt. Stefan Edick and crew did a magnificent job and were delighted with the 2nd place finish in such an esteemed field.   Here are a few of photos of our day.

Schooner Festival Up Close on the King Eider and Lady Jillian

Capt Steve and Capt Pete gave everyone an up close view of the schooners in the parade of Sails, and their trip to the starting Line. Photographers, Parents and children were thrilled to see the schooners in full sail up close. King Eider and Lady Jillian are operated by Cape Ann Harbor Tours.  See Slide Show below of all the happy faces.

Another Schooner Festival is in the Books

So much beauty in one harbor.  It almost doesn’t seem fair….almost.

The day began a bit dreary, but grey skies couldn’t detract from the gorgeousness of the schooners as they paraded throughout our harbor.

Lucky, lucky us.  Thanks to everyone who played a part in another successful Schooner Festival.

Homecoming

While touring the USCG Barque Eagle yesterday, I was honored to meet Daniel Carmody….an original crew member of the Eagle in 1946.

I was humbled to be there to witness his homecoming and to have met him and his son.

Hi Joey,

My name is Gordon and I’m a fine art photographer specializing in New England. I thought your readers might be interested in the images from my recent photo shoot around Cape Ann. I’ve created a collection of them with a vintage vibe that I used to try to capture the kind of romance and nostalgic atmosphere of Cape Ann’s fishing community.

I love your blog and follow your updates on Facebook, and I would be thrilled to have some of my photos of Cape Ann featured on it.

Here is the link to the Cape Ann photo set.

The USCG Eagle

Hi Joey,

I was aboard the Adventure as she joined the Lannon, Ardelle, Coast Guard boats and others to welcome the Coast Guard Barque Eagle to Gloucester on Friday.

She is a beauty!    I hope everyone has an opportunity to see the Eagle while she is in port.  Captain Stephan Edick took the helm for our spectacular sail.  Here are

some photos of our day aboard the Adventure including the newly renovated fo’c’sle, We had some youngsters eagerly helping to hoist the sails and man the helm. 5

Enjoy the Schooner Festival!

“Beautiful” May Not Do The Eagle Justice

Thatcher, Finn, and I spent a glorious morning touring the United States Coast Barque Eagle.  Gloucester is obviously fortunate to be home to such amazing vessels as The Adventure, The Lannon, and the Ardelle, but…as I explained to my boys…this weekend is like a Red Sox home game in that those ships get to play host to some other fabulous “away team” vessels.

The Eagle being one of them.

I’m not quite sure that “Beautiful” does her justice.

What do you think?

The Eagle is conducting an Open House until 7:00 in the evening. I highly recommend a trip down behind Americold to see her!

Progress, Recall, and Relax

Progress continues on the Birdseye Building, as now we can see the inside, as the walls crumble.  Paul Nicastro recalls his grandmother’s house being on the site, along with twenty plus houses before Birdseye.  Beach goer relaxes on Pavilion Beach.
