WORLD PREMIERE VIDEO RELEASE: SOUL REBEL PROJECT – KING

We all know this area has a ton of music talent, and SOUL REBEL PROJECT is among the best. If you love true Roots Reggae, then you already know these guys well. If you’ve never had the chance to see them live, start kicking yourself now. After you recover, go to SoulRebelProject.com and see where the next big show will be. Ok, I love these guys for many reasons, one being that they are professionals at what they do, and then there’s the fact that they’ve become good friends, and they just keep getting better every year. Today just so happens to be the iTunes album release date for HIGHER PLACE (on VP Records), and the release of their first video KING. I shot and cut this video for the guys from a live show I taped this past spring. We never intended on making any particular video that night, just grabbing some footage, but here you have it. So watch the video, please share the link, then go check out the tracks on iTunes, you will become a fan instantly. Enjoy!!! (remember click the gear at bottom right for 1080hd)

Thanks to all who came out for the opening back in September. I had a great time talking to everyone about my Dad’s Artwork and Life. I was surprised to meet his collectors from years ago. Some came from far away to view and purchase a painting. My Dad would’ve been so happy.  Thanks again, Paul Jr.

‘From Ships to Shores’: Doryman left fishing to pursue painting

By Gail McCarthy Staff Writer

The son of a Gloucester fisherman, the late Paul Francis Frontiero Sr., began fishing with his father at the age of 12.

He did not know then that this would become his way of life for many years. He never finished Gloucester High School because his father was injured while fishing and he had to leave his studies. As a result, he spent many years laboring in jobs at sea.

Frontiero, born in 1925, even worked as a doryman, an avocation that became extinct; with the innovation of the motorized trawler, the dory fishing industry began to wither in the late 1930s. However, he remained in demand on the port’s fishing vessels because of his skills as an engineer and cook.

Throw Back Thursday Art Rocks! from 2010

motif rocks

“Art, Rocks!”

Better Late Than Never!

I received an email a few weeks ago from a 10 year old boy who when he was nine years old at the time he found one of my “Art,Rocks!” a Rock that I left at T-Wharf in Rockport on 09/04/2010. I think that was about 9 months ago. I remember leaving it there after having a cup of coffee and watching the Lobstermen get ready for their day. About 5am. I always wonder about the ones I leave that don’t get reported back to the email I leave on them. Currently the last three that I’ve left in the past two weeks that I never gave notice on GMG Have not been reported back. Which is fine. In this world we live in now, maybe people think there is a catch too this thing. Maybe they think I want money for it. Emails like Coopers who found it is payment enough! I will never ask anything for them. An email would be nice but, If I don’t get a response that’s fine too! Mystery and fantasy is what makes life! isn’t it?

Here’s the email from Cooper and Photos of the “Art, Rock!” He found! Who could ask for anything more?!!!! Thanks Cooper!

Am I a little weird? Maybe! 🙂

from Cooper;

Dear mr or mrs frontiero. I picked up one of your pictures of the motif in a parking lot in rockport on 9-4-2010. I am very sorry not to get back to you sooner. I am a 10 year old boy and I’m in fourth grade at st johns in Beverly Massachusetts . I picked it up when i was nine with my aunt and little sister delaney who is now 6. That is my lucky rock because that day I won a contest at bearskin neck country store. You are a beautiful artist. Sincerely , Cooper

ARTIST LOREN DOUCETTE LIFTS STUDENT ART INTO PUBLIC ART INSTALLATIONEETING #2

East Gloucester Elementary School and ART

Hey Joey,

image002 (7)

What happens when artist Loren Doucette exhibits art projects by the entire East Gloucester Elementary student body over two back-to-back family nights?

image004 (4)

She lifts it to the level of public art installation. (Ruby McElhenny’s mask J)

image006 (2)

That’s Loren’s mom, Diane, helping out.

image008

Thanks to hundreds of display cases –big shout out for the shoe boxes from Mark Adrian Shoes—and a beckoning zippy maze we were treated to a walk in field of masks.

image011 (2)

The PTO worked with East Gloucester Elementary to bring Loren and artist Amber LeBlanc (look for her teaching art this summer at YMCA Camp Spindrift) to spend an entire day with each grade. Devoted entirely to art and only art!

Loren’s most recent work—the view from Kate’s balcony– will be on exhibit opening this weekend atFlat Rocks Gallery.

Esteemed artist, Ed Touchette, is the art teacher year round for East Gloucester Elementary school and Veteran’s. So these students have a touch with a master class every week! And Mary Rhinelanderdesigned the school logo.

Special thanks to EGS PTO for such a memorable event.

For anyone that isn’t interested in attending Gloucester’s Superbowl, The Saint Peter’s Fiesta-

Hello,

My name is Marinna Teixeira and I am the event planner at Mass Energy Consumers Alliance in Boston. Candace Wheeler has advised me to contact this email address for sending out a press release for one of our upcoming events:

Mass Energy is hosting a breakfast & wind turbine tour at one of the wind turbines in Gloucester on June 28. I would like to submit the attached press release and spread the word about this wonderful (free!) event that is a great opportunity for everyone in the Gloucester community to learn more about wind power.

Who: Massachusetts Energy Consumers Alliance (Mass Energy), a local non-profit organization with a commitment to support renewable energy.
What: A Gloucester Wind Turbine Tour! People of all ages are welcome to join us for breakfast and to learn about the wind turbines (and take a peek inside a turbine tower!) Speakers on renewable energy will be present, including members of the Gloucester community who will explain how the turbines benefit their community.
This event is free and open to the public. RSVP is required by Wednesday, June 25.
Where: Blackburn Industrial Park in Gloucester, MA
When: Saturday, June 28 at 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM
Why: Mass Energy offers the only tax-deductible green electricity option in Massachusetts (see http://www.massenergy.org/renewable-energy). The Gloucester wind turbines are two of the most productive wind turbines in the state, and Mass Energy purchases green power from them on behalf of our members. During our wind turbine tours, we aim to educate the public about the positive impacts that local wind power provides for the community.
RSVP: Get your tickets by Wednesday, June 25 for this free event at http://gloucesterwind2014.eventbrite.com or by contacting Marinna Teixeira at marinna@massenergy.org or (617) 524-3950 ext. 142.

Have You Always Wanted to Learn Photoshop?

photoshop classes

Are you an artist who feels challenged when you have to resize an image for a show submission, or someone who has wanted to learn image editing, photo montage or digital art? Do you want to be able to design your own business card, postcard, flier or other image document? Have you always wanted to learn Photoshop but were daunted by the overwhelming scope of the program, so gave up?

E.J. is now offering Photoshop class for beginners to intermediate users who want to learn and be able to do more with Photoshop. I have been working with Photoshop for over 15 years, and although I do not consider myself a “Master”, I know a lot and use Photoshop as my go to program for everything from imagine editing to creating unique digital artwork and other image and text focused documents.

If you are interested in taking a class, call me at 857-891-9054 or email

← Back

Thank you for your response. ✨

 – Classes will be small and intimate (no more than 3 people at a time) and will run for one hour at a cost of $20/class. You can take as many or as few classes as you like, which will be tailored to accomplish your individual goal(s).  I have three PC’s with Photoshop installed available for people to work on, or you can bring your own laptop if you have Photoshop installed on it.

Photoshop is an amazing tool that offers so much creative freedom.  If you are not using Photoshop, you are missing out on an important piece of today’s creative technology.  I’ll make learning Photoshop fun and exciting for you.
