I’m a part time Gloucester resident who reads your blog daily since I signed up for it a few months ago. My husband and I have vacationed in Glouc. since 1982. In 2008, we bought a condo unit on Western ave towards Magnolia. We visit every chance we get. I am a diehard Bruins fan (long story since we live in New Rochelle, NY) and see at least 2 games at TDG every year. I was at the Islander game a few weeks ago that we won. That’s me on the left w/ my friend who owns the condo with us (she got hooked on Gloucester first time).
Barry goes fishing with the Yankee fleet and esp. loves the Thurs. marathons. In all the time we’ve spent up there, we love how unspoiled and friendly it remains. The info on the Genome was passed to me by the Gloucester Astronomy Club who’s doings I also follow.
Loved your reco for Oliver’s restaurant. We’re going to try Short and main next.

JOHN BABOIAN ENSEMBLE KICKS OFF RETURN OF FREE FRIDAY CONCERTS ON THE GREEN
Gloucester Meetinghouse Foundation opens the sixth season of Music on Meetinghouse Green on Friday, July 9 at 6:00 p.m. with famed guitarist John Baboian playing Jazz and Swing. Baboian’s ensemble is joined by renowned vocalist Sandi Bedrosian. The free outdoor concert will be held at the corner of Middle and Church Street with food available from the Causeway Restaurant. Free-will donations to support Pathways for Children, the evening’s featured local non-profit organization, will be requested. The 2021 summer music series is dedicated in memory of Harry Hintlian for his encouragement, generosity, and for making the Meetinghouse a net zero building.
John Baboian has shared the stage with a who’s who of music’s top vocalists and musicians for the last four decades. He has been on the faculty of the Berklee College of Music for more than 40 years and is well-known for his work in Jazz, Swing, Blues, Rock, R&B, Classical, Latin, and World music. In addition to his live concerts, television and radio appearances, Baboian is well known as a composer and educator and has offered numerous international teaching clinics.
Baboian teams up with renowned vocalist Sandi Bedrosian for the July 9th concert on the Green. As a performer, Bedrosian is accomplished in Jazz, Swing, R&B, Classical, Top 40, Gospel and Liturgical music. She has starred in and directed numerous musical productions.
Music on Meetinghouse Green, now in its sixth season, features nine free Friday evening concerts with great music, favorite foods from local vendors, and benefits a different North Shore non-profit organization each week through free-will donations from the audience. Concert goers bring lawn chairs and blankets to spread out across the spacious green. Performances are handicap accessible, parking on the Green is limited to persons with disabilities only.

Want to be included in a Game Day Program including local business advertising and a things to do list as Gloucester hosts the State Championship? We are always happy when people share stories with us so that we can share them with you. Kristin Michel let us know that these boys have been out and about working hard to solicit donations from local businesses who may want to be included in an awesome Game Day Program of things to do in our City as we are honored to host the Little League State Championship. Thanks to the businesses who have participated…..and it is not too late for others!
“These handsome fellas and their teammates are visiting local businesses to get support for the Gloucester Little League. They are hosting a big deal tourney at the end of July. The State Championships will be held at Boudreau field and 4 teams from across the state will be playing here for 4 days and visiting our amazing island. The kids are soliciting businesses to be included in the program as well as the team packet which will include participating restaurants and activities.”
Cape Ann SUP and Surf is now open at all locations, including this one at our own Pavilion Beach. Several people were enjoying some time on paddleboards during the recent heat wave. I already admire the instructors, but I especially admire that apparently they can instruct while going backwards in order to face their students! This is something I have always wanted to try and one day you are going to see me out there!!!
