Cape Ann Weather

8tSpmonsgloiredt  · [340p – 2/18/21] While there may be a period of light snow early this evening, the ‘main area’ of light snow arrives after midnight. “Steadiest snow” will be during tomorrow afternoon. Very difficult for this pace of snow to cover the roads this time of year. Hence, driving should not be a major issue tomorrow on main roads.* This is one of those snowfalls where you do several measurements during the day tomorrow (And clean off the surface each time!) to get an accurate number. Not that it’s a lot of snow but because of the loss from solar radiation and higher sun angle during the day.

·NowCasting for long duration light to moderate snow event. Two main periods, later this evening and again Later Friday. Main concern is OES > ocean effect snow bandings. In red could see higher and heavier amounts , both Northshore & Southshore… just a possibility.

A visit to Marshalls Farm Stand

Went over to Marshalls Farm Stand on Wednesday to take a look at the new metal Alpaca made by the talented artist Chris Francis.  I love visiting my friends the alpacas when over there.  These gentle animals are fun and so cute.  Also do not forget the goats, Ben and Jerry.

Cape Ann Motor Inn

We love quick “stay cations” at the Cape Ann Motor Inn and it’s perfect beachfront location at the end of Long Beach. Walking by the other day made me miss summer more. Looking forward to booking a quick trip as soon as beach weather is upon us…. although it is beautiful any time of year.

A Ride to Ipswich River Craft

We took a ride to Ipswich River Craft to take a peek behind the curtain, which Pamela was happy to provide. It’s pretty fascinating to see nautical signs at all steps in the creation process. We ordered our own car magnets and will await their arrival! Thanks, Pamela for the gracious tour. Check out the website for additional pictures and ideas.

Antarctica: Lessons from the Bottom of the World presented by the Sawyer Free Library on Saturday, 2/20 at 2pm

Sawyer Free Library's avatarCape Ann Community

Join environmental attorney, diver and photographer Michael Carvalho, for a Live Zoom presentation about his arctic exhibition to Antarctica in 2018, “Antarctica: Lessons From the Bottom of the World,” on Saturday, February 20 from 2 to 4:00 p.m. Registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link. Register here.

Illustrated by his breathtaking photography he will discuss the developments in Antarctica, the rising sea levels and its impact locally. According to experts, temperatures in the Antarctic region are rising due to “heat-trapping gas pollution,” which has serious global consequences. Gloucester, like all coastal regions, is vulnerable to increasingly extreme weather.

Since obtaining his open water scuba certification in 1978 in Rockport, Carvalho has completed more than 2,500 dives on six continents.

Carvalho is the former chairman of the board of directors for the National Council for Science and the Environment. In 2019, he represented the United Nations Environment Program for…

Addresses! from Jim

Hey Joey!

Look at your (great), site every day to keep up with things…  the only comment I have is that sometimes you will highlight a restaurant or store and not list their address…. I think it would help those places if it were easier to find rather than having to look it up on the internet.  Just sayin…..

Thanks!  And keep up the great work!

Jim

Thanks Jim, here’s a quick tutorial. You can pick up yur phone and say “Hey Siri… Tonno Gloucester” the results will pop up. you can do this for all the restaurants around town. It also works for businesses. I find it very useful and not very difficult. You don’t even need to type.

A lot of people ask me these kind of questions. Hopefully this is helpful
