| Dear Gloucester Business Owners and Operators, On behalf of Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken, we are pleased to announce the City of Gloucester is extending its COVID-19 testing to Tuesday 10/20/2020, Thursday 10/22/2020, and Saturday 10/24/2020. We also want to remind you of two grant programs that may be of assistance to your business. The first grant program is provided by the Commonwealth’s Department of Industrial Accidents (DIA). The grant awards are up to $25,000 per business to pay for workplace safety programs. The City of Gloucester along with its partners will present a “Lunch and Learn” webinar on Wednesday 10/21/2020 at 11:30am for businesses interested in this program. The second grant program is provided by the Massachusetts Conference For Women and the Massachusetts Restaurant Association (MRA). The program supports women-owned restaurants with a $5,000 competitive grant. There will be up to 50 awardees. The deadline is October 22nd. Sincerely, Sal Di Stefano City of GloucesterEconomic Development Director & COVID-19 Business Liaison ![]() Save The Date: $25,000 Safety Training Grant WebinarWhen: Wednesday, October 21st at 11:30 am Please register: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/lunch-and-learn-25000-workplace-safety-grant-tickets-124733787115 On October 21st at 11:30 am the City of Gloucester Economic Development Department in partnership with The North Shore Alliance for Economic Development, The Enterprise Center at Salem State University, the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce and the Commonwealth’s Department of Industrial Accidents will be holding an online “Lunch and Learn” webinar to discuss the Safety Training Grant from the Department of Industrial Accidents The primary purpose of this Safety Grant is designed to fund programs that reduce the risk of injury and illness to workers and promote safe and healthy conditions in the workplace through training, education, and other preventative programs. Each fiscal year the grant program awards a maximum of $25,000 to qualifying Massachusetts businesses and organizations operating within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts covered by Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation Law. (M.G.L. Ch. 152). Strong preference will be given to first-time applicants, consortium applicants, employers and organizations who demonstrate a compelling program design that addresses an injury history, potential injury or provides a proactive approach to injury prevention. Grants are awarded to employers that best satisfy the Safety Grant Program goals.
