Greenbelt’s Summer Trail Runs

Bring It On! Greenbelt Offers Two Trail Runs on the North Shore this Summer

Greenbelt will host two trail runs this summer as part of the 2019 North Shore Trail Series sponsored by New England Running Company & Salomon.

Greenbelt’s first race is the Pingree Run for the Hills 5K and 10K trail run on Saturday, July 13th at 9:00 am at the Pingree Reservation behind the Pingree School in South Hamilton, MA.  The race route features beautiful wooded trails that climb up and down a remarkable series of glacial landforms called “eskers”. Runners may register for the 5K or 10K distance. Register online until July 10th, or at the event on race day.  Visit for details.

Greenbelt’s second race of the summer is the Beverly Commons 3.5 and 7-mile trail run on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the 126-acre Beverly Commons Conservation Area in Beverly Farms, MA. The race route is scenic and challenging, with sections of steep hills and rocky terrain. Runners may register for the 3.5 mile or 7 mile distance. Register online until August 21st, or at the event on race day. Visit for details.

Registration for both of Greenbelt’s races include timing, race gear (while supplies last), food, beverages and prizes. The proceeds benefit Greenbelt’s land conservation work throughout Essex County.

Other races in the 2019 North Shore Trail Series this summer include the ECTA Run for the Trails in Hamilton on September 21, the BTA/BOLT Trail Festival in Boxford on October 20, and the Stone Cat 50K race in Ipswich on November 2.

An interview with Ethan is also being published in Sunday’s Boston Globe.

Jodi writes, “Hi Kim, hoping you can write something up about the Ravens who nested in town by the post office. I got the fledgling yesterday and he is emaciated but I’m hoping his stay will be short. What I need to know is where his parents are spending their their time so I can reunite him with them hopefully next week. Erinn Whitamore from Sharon Audubon said Ravens tend to stick to their territory and have a daily routine they pretty much stick to. Posts about him are on the Cape Ann Wildlife if you have time to look thru it. I need the public’s help on this one, I don’t have the time to search for them myself.”

Readers, if you have seen a Raven family near the post office downtown, please write in the comment section below and we will get in touch with Jodi. Thank you so much for any help given!
