Although bird banding is tremendously helpful to researchers, after seeing the following video, I understand why conservationists have decided not to band in our area. I am puzzled as to why the Plover in this video has to have sooooo many bands.

Although bird banding is tremendously helpful to researchers, after seeing the following video, I understand why conservationists have decided not to band in our area. I am puzzled as to why the Plover in this video has to have sooooo many bands.
I have never seen this many bands on a Piping Plover,but it sure does appear to be bothersome to the bird. I think the different colors are from different banding sites. As shorebirds have some huge migrations, they could be found at many sites from southern to northern hemisphere. Very interesting footage.
