It was pretty amazing. I was shooting him swimming with the sunrise behind him and all of a sudden he raised himself up like that just as I took the shot.
They do mourn more than we sometimes give them ability to do. He has been grieving for sure, but maybe he is ready for a new mate, if the right one comes along. He sure looked free at that moment.
