It looks like just another generic waterfront scene until you catch sight of City Hall’s clock tower and spires in the background.
Longshoremen’s scally caps, straw boaters, fedoras. Plenty of scally caps around these days in South Boston and Dorchester. As for straw boaters and fedoras…
Anyone have an idea of the vantage point?
I keep a sea kayaking blog at Sea Kayaking Dot Net. Come on by and have a look. There’s something new there most days of the week.

Since all 4 spires are to the left of tower, this must be a bit west of due south of City Hall. My guess would be one of the wharfs in the area of present day Cape Pond Ice building on Commercial St.

Correction: the tower is to the left of all 4 spires!

Adam it could be from the Atlantic Halibut Wharf or some other wharf on Duncans Point

I was going to say a wharf at the fort off of Commercial Street looking NNE across Harbor Cove.

What a beautiful site it is on the water-front…look back and looks forward we lost some of the traditions of the past but will never lose the memories that are within of those days! Every time you are around the Down at sea you feel the spirit in the wind scared ground and scared place! 🙂 Dave & Kim 🙂
