Happy New Year’s Eve!

Wishing Everyone Peace and Joy in 2015!

Tom Hauck Kim Smith BermudaMy husband and I are also celebrating our anniversary. Here we are in Bermuda at the Coral Beach Club where we married and had our honeymoon.

Can you believe Tom still has that same leather jacket. It was lent to dozens of school and community plays–think West Side Story!

And that’s Tom’s selfie–he’s the original selfie-maker–or at least I had never seen anyone do that before. It’s not very easy with a film camera. He did it so effortlessly, but then again, he can also draw upside down!  Happy Anniversary bouquet from Liv and MattWe’re so very touched by the beautiful anniversary arrangement sent by our daughter Liv and her fiance, Matt O’Rourke.

    1. Happy New Year to you Tuffy! Thank you and yes, the eighties, exactly. Are you traveling to parts warmer this winter?

Editing my Monarch film yesterday and just added to the timeline that fabulous shot of the Degelyse pulling into Captain Joes. Thanks so much again. Wishing you peace, and to stay warm, too, and lots of lobsters!

    1. Thanks so much Jenn and what a sweet thing to say. That photo was from an old photo album, but I think now I’ll keep it out and frame it.

Happy, Happy New Year to You!

  3. I think you SHOULD frame it! Your expression is so captivating. And Happy Anniversary!
I spent two years in Bermuda when I was 10 and 11 yrs. old. Attended English schools and sang “God Save the Queen” set to the tune of “My Country Tiz of Thee.” — looks like we stole it from them, lol…. every morning at assembly, ending with a morning prayer. It was public school, too. It set the tone for the day. My, how times have changed.

    1. Good to hear from you Leslie and thank you. Happy New year to you and your family!!

I love Bermuda! The landscape is so pretty–you must have many more interesting memories. We’ve been back once since then and stayed again at the Coral Beach Club. I would love to go again!

Wouldn’t singing every morning be a great way for kids to start the school day, today??

  4. We certainly didn’t mind singing. We often sang a lovely hymn. In those days, you had the option to sing or pray. Now you aren’t allowed, so YOUR right has been taken away by banning it. Is that not just as bad, or worse? Don’t get me started on the “Politically Correct”…………..

I hope you do get back to Bermuda. I went back as a young adult with a girlfriend from my high school days, who was raised in London. We rented scooters, which was a hoot, esp. driving on the opposite side of the road. No problem till you got to a rotary, and instinctively wanted to head towards the right. I wouldn’t do it now, as there are more people and many more accidents with them. It’s such a lovely island, and everyone is so polite. You’ll find the natives swim from May to October. I think the water temp was about 78 degrees, year round, with lots more salt than in New England. I was like a little fish in those days. Great memories!

    1. Love the scooters, and we swam in December and January. Natives kept asking if we were from Alaska because we were swimming during “wintertime!” Thanks for sharing your memories Leslie!
