This was the original post which led me to ordering signing up for Dollar Shave Club about a week ago-
In light of my recent shaving disaster I’m taking my boy Rick Doucette’ (among other people’s) advice. Literally 7 different people emailed me today telling me how much they dig the dollar saving club service.

So for $72 a year I’ll get 48 Blades. Way Less Than Gillette razors for the same quality shave. I get to toss the blades once a week and use a fresshie. They give you a free handle and if you don’t like the razors you simply quit without any obligation. No Brainer city baby.

You’re shaving like a savage. Take it easy and go with the grain. Down on face, up on neck. You will never find anything that lasts as long as the most expensive Gillette razor (basically science). Not using Gillette foamy shaving cream is disrespectful to your masculinity.

See, I think going up on neck is more like going like a savage. The CVS brand gel is actually excellent. I’d guess that it is very similar to the Gillette brand name gel.

my opinion is that the gels provide more moisture for your skin than shaving cream

A little Googling.. Dollar Shave Club apparently uses a Korean company Dorco as their manufacturer, at least for the 6 blade style. Dorco also sells direct to consumers but will only deliver a 10-12 month supply of blades rather than the per month delivery of the Dollar Shave Club. Total cost through Dorco is about $30.00 or 1/3 the price at DSC.
Another on-line “club” is 800Shave. They found their blade manufacturer in Tennessee which happens to be owned by Energizer LLC which apparently owns Shick.
