So If The Next Time You See me I’m Bleeding Profusely From My Face…

You can blame it on my decision to take a shot on some CVS brand disposable razors.

I ran out of  blades for my Gillette Mach III razor blade shaver about a month ago and finally succumbed to the need to buy new ones.  Went to Target and  couldn’t bring myself to spend $32 for 15 razor blades.  Seems insane to me.  Those dinky little Mach III refills cost over $2 each.

So after another full week of using the dull month and a week old razor blade I finally decided I had to suck it up and buy some new blades.  Went to CVS and saw they had a big sale on razor blades and grabbed this deal-

2 four packs of what looks to be the premium CVS brand disposables.  They were $6.99 per pack and if you bought two packs you got $5 back. Basically $14 minus a $5 rebate for 8 disposable razors comes out to just over a buck a razor.  If I’m found days from now dead,  in a pool of blood from multiple deep inflicted razor cut wounds you’ll know why.

What do you buy for shaving products?  Do you go premium Gillette or the cheapest thing possible?  I’d be interested to hear what people are doing these days.

  1. This is what I do. Gillette Mach III also. CVS replacement blades don’t last long, although they’re cheaper. So I went back to Gillette blades. They cost a little bit more, but they last for a long time.

  2. Don’t know if you want a woman’s perspective, but I cut my legs when I shave them no matter how much the razors cost, so I always go for the cheapest ones. Dollar Store – 6 disposable razors for $1.

  3. Well I’m a believer, in this situation, …you get what you pay for…sorry. Question is, what I’ll you do with all those cheap blades?
One idea…you can use them for getting “pills” off of wool carpets and sweaters…

  4. I go for whatever is on sale, when I have a coupon. I am shocked by the price of a razor! Other than the actual blade, the technology does not seem to be much more than a free McDonalds toy.
Why do the cost so much?

  5. Schick Slim Twin. Schick Slim Twin.
I’ve been using them for a long time and I’ve been happy with them. Little button thing to clean out between the blades. Decent price and they do a good job when they are sharp. When I notice I am passing over a bunch of neck whiskers, I know it it time to bust out a new razor.

  6. I spend the money on Mach III, but I have a friend that buys Gillette throw away twin razors and uses them once then throws them away. Not really expensive and a fresh blade everyday.

  7. I get the Mach III but I’m like Fred — I make ’em lost a looooonnnnnggg time. Like six or nine months long time. Joey, you’re too pretty to cut your face all up. Stick with the quality blades, son.

  8. I use both expensive ones 1 pack and then get a bag of the disposables…Use the good ones for the days need the extra close shave theory…only difference the expensive ones tend to feel better in your hand. Avoid an ingrown hair bump or simple pimple get real bleeders then :-O These are a very deadly weapon in any correctional setting when blades are removed.

  9. I have found the ultimate razor supply company: Harry’s — this place: https://www.harrys.com/products Their blades are beautiful. I made a reasonable purchase of 8 blades back in August — $1.88 per blade — and I’m still on the first one. The company’s only mistake is that their product is too good. Totally cool (American) company. Gotta try it.

  10. I have to chime in. I’ve found any DECENT razor is good with the proper preparation. Shave after a hot shower, use pre shave oil and and a good shaving cream. Jack Black makes amazing stuff. I know it sounds like a lot, but you get an awesome shave. It’s well worth it to. Also, The Art of Shaving makes great products. So much better than what you’re used to.

  11. I’ve used a Norelco triple-head shaver for the last 40 years. Not the same one, of course, but a succession of Norelcos. I have no idea why anyone would use a razor blade, but that’s just personal preference..

  12. Gillette Sensor user, here, and it is total robbery what the blades cost. I’ll find them online for a steal, and then the real steal is what the shipping costs, makes it as expensive as walking in and buying them off the shelf. Store brands are like voluntary self-mutilation.

Luckily, my dress code is jeans and work boots, shaving on average every three days, or when OSHA is coming for an inspection.
The CVS’ down here realize the blades are a hot commodity, they’ve got them encapsulated in in over-sized plastic cases the size of VCR tapes that get “unlocked” at the register.
