Wonderful old picture, Fred – taken the year I was born. I should take a shot at painting it.

I can’t wait to take my husband, son, and daughter here. After doing reseach, I found out this is the home of my husband’s 10th great grandparents, James Babson and Elinor Hill. i was just in Gloucester…I wish I knew this then. Is this the stone building on the way to Rockport? I have seen that many times and did not realize the connection to our family. My favorite story is how their son Ebenizer, killed the bear and skinned it to protect his nephew, Henry Witham when he was attacked. This act gave Bearskin Neck, in Rockport it’s name.

Yes, it is that stone building. I hope you will post the story of Ebenezer and the bear and how the neck was named.
