Hey Kim! I’ll be going back to see if the little chomper finished the job. I have photos of another tree as well. I must have disturbed that one, because it barely got it started and took off.
It’s fun and interesting to see thoughtful posts about wildlife activity here on Cape Ann – it reminds us of the richness of our environment, and of how this blog is a terrific forum for sharing insights, humor, and current events. On the other hand, it’s not so much fun to see recycled grade school jokes pointlessly pushed to the forefront. I think that every adult knows that many English words have multiple meanings, and it’s silly to parade such knowledge as if it were a fresh or original idea.

Hi Craig–I saw a beaver at Niles Pond two weeks ago–but no dam nor tree that looks as though it will come crashing down at any second.
