Mega Yacht RASA Docks at Cruiseport
The 131 foot, tri-deck mega yacht RASA, out of George Town Cayman Islands docked at Cruiseport at 3:10 today. Unfortunately, no amount of cajoling or lawyer-like cross examination could get the Cruiseport staff (who were sworn to secrecy) or crew to disclose who might be on board.
Let the rumors fly!

Did You Know? (Charlie McCarthy)
that Charlie McCarthy represented Good Morning Gloucester at Madfish Wharf on Rocky Neck? Edgar Bergen was unavailable. Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy made their debut on “Royal Gelatin Hour” in 1936 and were an instant success. Soon after they were given their own show for Chase & Sanborn. Almost immediately, The Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy Show became one of the most popular programs. Charlie looks a little worse for the wear, and he’s so old now he has to be pushed around in a pram. You never know who you’ll see on Rocky Neck.

Morning of Blackburn Challenge Breast Clouds
The morning of the Blackburn Challenge contestants and viewers of the race noticed some pretty weird clouds. Hard to capture in a camera, they looked a little like this photo taken from the wiki page describing mammatus clouds. Terry Weber posted at GMG about these mysterious clouds here.
“Mammatus” from the latin mamma for breast or udders. On race day the clouds were much larger in the breast category with cleavage compressed as small indentions. A cold front comes in, some wind shear occurs, and these large lumpy clouds start dropping from the sky.
Some clouds have a silver lining, on Cape Ann they sometimes appear to be double D cup.
Camilla MacFadyen: The White-Ellery Farm Project
COMMUNITY CELEBRATION and ART INSTALLATION
Camilla MacFadyen: The White-Ellery Farm ProjectSaturday, August 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
245 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA
"… have you noticed on the pole on the corner of your house a big red mark? Well that is a sign that ‘human beings live here’ and I remember that no one went from our door hungry."
From the diary of Ida Beaman Falk, 1892-197?
The White Ellery Farm Project is a collaborative piece about history, community and our agrarian roots. It is an art/history "happening", gathering artists and farmers together to bring spirit and community back to the old farm. Join friends and neighbors for a community pot luck with food given by the plentiful home gardens of Cape Ann. If possible, bring an old family recipe or a salad from your garden to share. Take this opportunity to sit with and meet the people in your community and learn about this precious historic farm.
Inside the historic house, Camilla MacFadyen will show her large collograph printed silk landscapes along with an exhibit of photographs of the old farm and an audio diary. Shep Abbott’s film More precious than Gold, a historical documentary on the early settlers of Cape Ann, will play continuously throughout the day. Outside, there will be a small Farmers Market with goods and produce for sale from local farms including the Alprilla Farm in Essex, and the Riverdale Youth Garden in Gloucester.
