Don’t Be A Negligent Parent! Get Your Kids Down To Art Haven Today or Saturday To Paint A Buoy For The Lobster Trap Tree

The lobster trap tree is up once again and it needs to be decorated! Art Haven is once again offering a free day of buoy painting on December 10th from 10:00am – 4:00pm. Children and teens of all ages are welcome to visit the 180B Main Street studio space in Gloucester to create their own original painted buoy ornament for this year’s community tree. The tree will then be lit with all of its festive décor at 5:00pm on Saturday as a culmination of the Middle Street Walk events happening all day.

Also for the fourth year, everyone is welcome to participate in creating a giant ice sculpture in front of Art Haven from 10:00am – 12:00pm on Saturday the 10th. All of these activities are made possible by generous donations from Cape Pond Ice, Ben’s Paint, Winchester Fishing and Rose’s Marine.

“We are so thankful to have been able to start a new holiday tradition for the community,” says Art Haven Director Dawn Gadow. “It’s great to see the kids faces as the lights go on around their beautiful buoy creations on the tree! Things like that start teaching them at a young age what it means to be a part of the Cape Ann community.”

The day is becoming even more of a community effort this year, as Project Uplift will also have a presence at the tree lighting and buoy painting day. Santa will be collecting toys, clothes and gift cards for Action Inc.’s Project Uplift program throughout the day and tree lighting, so you can bring a toy to help out another family this holiday season. In addition, the winner of this year’s downtown shopping spree will also be drawn at this year’s tree lighting ceremony.
