This is an updated version of the old “Freaks Of The Lobster and Crab World Slide Show”.  I doubt anyone else  has a collection of pictures that they’ve taken first hand of this many mutations.

From FOB (friend of the blog) Brenda Malloy-

Hello Joey and Happy Day~

With handmade offerings of a wonderful variety of fine paintings, jewelry, pottery, glass ornaments and mobile’s, scarves, greeting cards and much, much, more, many at discounted prices, people are sure to be pleased.

The following galleries will be open:

Phantom Of The Lobsta

I have a couple more pics of this creature.

Paul Frontiero’s Snowy Owl Pic

Paul forwarded a couple pictures of this snowy owl that has been hanging around on the State Fish Pier.  Mark Ring had told me about it last week and said that it was probably responsible for the many dead seagulls around town.  He says they swoop in and rip out their guts and then leave the rest of the gull behind (I guess there’s not much fun in eating feathers)

Thanks for the pics Paul!

Where are those seagulls at?  I’m hungry damnit!

Gloucester’s Lobster Trap Tree 2008 Christmas Card

If you haven’t taken the kids down to see the Lobster Trap Tree you might want to before the season passes by.  Feel free to use this image to make Christmas Cards if you would like.

Beautiful Industry- Cape Pond Ice Industrial Elevator

This industrial elevator is capable of lifting palletloads of ice up and down.  That saves a whole lot of manual labor.

Coral At Bob And Dave’s

We’ve been getting out of work late and on the drive home I always pass by Bob and Dave’s in the dark when they have long since closed.  They have redone their window display with some really cool stuff so I had meant to get in there to check out what the boys had been up to.

As luck would have it yesterday morning when I was going for my coffee Bob and Dave were directly in front of me and pulled in so I pulled in next to them and had a peek inside.

Shhhhhhhhhh!

Don’t tell the Mrs -this is one of her Christmas presents that I bought yesterday. It’s for a small shell and coral collection on our bookcase.

The Madonna At Bob And Dave’s On Bass Ave

Bob and Dave’s on Bass Ave has a beautiful collection of Madonna and Jesus statue and figureheads.  Their shop is worth visiting not only for their friendly stories but the place is like a treasure chest and museum rolled up into one.  A true Gloucester gem.

The Mrs’ Baked Haddock With Glazed Carrots

This is the kind of dinner that helps to power a workin man through.

I really like the black trim on the windows.

Some of the prettiest things aren’t manufactured- they come out of the ocean just the way they are.

Can you place the location of this sign?

If you click the picture and select “all sizes” you can see any of the pictures here in full size and greater detail.

The deck at The Rudder is IMO the best places in town to bring guests for dinner on a warm summer night.

Gloucester Doors

This is a beautiful Gloucester Door.

I wonder why some people hang fish that are not caught in our waters above their doors.  Maybe the idea is that a fish is a fish and this is a fish town so any fish will do.  Or maybe the person that owns this house has a deep connection to Florida game fishing, hence the hanging of a Mahi Mahi.  I dunno, but it’s still a really pretty Gloucester Door regardless of what type of fish is hung above it.

Phantom Of The Lobsta

This lobster was landed yesterday.  I call it the Phantom of The Lobsta for obvious reasons.

Phantom Of The Lobsta

We get about 2-3 of these mutated lobsters per year.  Earlier this year we got a couple with deep blue pigmentation.  This one was white.
