A huge shout out goes to Chad and his son Oscar. I spotted them from across the beach. Chad was methodically taking in tons of garbage and his little son’s blond curly head was bobbing along. When I got closer, I noticed Oscar had his own trash pick-up stick. Thank you Chad and Oscar for helping to keep Good Harbor Beach and the surrounding marsh and roadway clean of garbage.

Hand-written notes on the back but no attribution for photographer or publication. i’m adding a piece from the June 1948 Atlantic Fisherman Magazine in the museum collection, giving their write-up of the event. Please pass these on to the Carranchos and feel free to add them to any additional posts on Good Morning Gloucester about the occasion. Mark My Words- Johnny Depp Gets The Oscar For #BlackMass
I’m not even necessarily a Johnny Depp fan. But his portrayal of Whitey Bulger in Black Mass is chilling.
So next year when he wins you can say your boy Joey called it. I’ll take Johnny Depp vs the field and I don’t even know who the field is, that’s how strongly I feel about it!

Oscar – Pet of the Week At Cape Ann Animal Aid
Here’s the second installment of GMG Pet of The Week-
Good Morning Gloucester! I am all ready for rainy weather or whatever comes
my way. My name is Oscar and I am Dachshund. I love toys and you will
never see me without one in my mouth or near by.
I am a little guy who likes the outdoors. I like to hike in the woods, walk and don’t let these
short legs fool you – I can keep up with you. I like my naps, too. I love to curl up in the
afternoon on a nice soft blanket. I enjoy riding in the car and just being with people.
I get along with most dogs as long as these don’t take my toys. I have a little
confession – I like cats but I just love to chase them! I am being fostered because at
the shelter I was feeling too stressed out and always awake checking to see if anyone
was going to take my toys. One dog – he looked like half-a-pony – I thought for sure
if I fell asleep he was going to take my toys. Because of my "intense" style, I am
looking for an adult home. If you think you could be person(s), please give the shelter
a call so we might chat a little more! The Cape Ann Animal Aid is located at
260 Main Street in Gloucester and may be reached at (978) 283-6055

Young Brendan lives in a remote medieval outpost under siege from barbarian raids. But a new life of adventure beckons when a celebrated master illuminator arrives from foreign lands carrying an ancient but unfinished book, brimming with secret wisdom and powers. To help complete the magical book, Brendan has to overcome his deepest fears on a dangerous quest that takes him into the enchanted forest where mythical creatures hide. It is here that he meets the fairy Aisling, a mysterious young wolf-girl, who helps him along the way. The two men conclude that there’s a connection to their Israeli Army mission in the first Lebanon War of the early eighties. Ari is surprised that he can’t remember a thing anymore about that period of his life. Intrigued by this riddle, he decides to meet and interview old friends and comrades around the world. He needs to discover the truth about that time and about himself. As Ari delves deeper and deeper into the mystery, his memory begins to creep up in surreal images. When Kym (Anne Hathaway) returns to the Buchman family home for the wedding of her sister Rachel, she brings a long history of personal crisis and family conflict along with her. The wedding party’s abundant cast of friends and relations have gathered for an idyllic weekend of feasting, music and love, but Kym—with her black-comic one-liners and knack for bombshell drama—is a catalyst for long-simmering tensions in the family dynamic. Filled with the rich and eclectic characters that have always been a hallmark of Jonathan Demme’s films, Rachel Getting Married paints a strikingly perceptive and sometimes hilarious family portrait.
“A triumph — Demme’s finest work since ‘The Silence Of The Lambs,’ and a movie that tingles with life.” -Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly
“’Rachel Getting Married’ is a masterpiece.” -David Edelstein, New York Magazine
