The North Shore Arts Association welcomes you to experience a solo exhibition of works by critically acclaimed painter,Jeffrey Weaver, on view from August 6 – August 30, 2026, with a Reception on Friday, August 7 from 6 – 8 PM at 11 Pirates Ln, Gloucester MA. All are welcome and it’s free to attend.

Jeff Weaver, born and raised in Massachusetts, showed early artistic talent, taking portrait commissions by age fourteen and winning statewide awards in drawing and sculpture while studying under sculptor Eleanor Marvin. After high school, he attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and moved to Gloucester in 1972, where he sketched and painted the waterfront daily. He supported himself through waterfront jobs, boat portrait commissions, and more than 30 murals throughout the city. Since returning to fine art in the 1990s, he has focused on depicting Gloucester and now operates a studio/gallery on Rogers Street along the waterfront.

The Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce is holding the second Block Party of Summer 2026 this Friday Aug 7 and we hope you’ll stop by 44 Main St to say hello. Maybe check out the merch from Thirsty Seagull Gloucester Apparel and Pat D’s Photos. The shop opens at 11 Friday and will remain open for the Nlock Party.

Saturday Aug 8 will be a somber afternoon along the boulevard with the annual Fishermen’s Memorial Service scheduled at 5 where the new names on the centotaph will be honored along with all the others. In addition, at 6:30 there will be a rededication of the Fishermen’s Wives memorial to celebrate its 25th anniversary. God Bless our fishermen and their families.
