Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC) is pleased to present Making an Impression: Traditional Techniques, Contemporary Vision, an exhibition featuring the work of 19 artists from Cape Ann and beyond exploring the rich and varied language of printmaking. Through both traditional and contemporary approaches, the exhibition showcases a diverse range of techniques, offering a thoughtfully curated selection that reflects the vitality and creative possibilities of the medium today.

For centuries, artists have developed innovative methods for creating multiple original impressions from a single matrix. In Making an Impression, participating artists employ a variety of printmaking processes, often combining techniques or incorporating additional materials to expand the expressive potential of their work. Together, these prints highlight the versatility, craftsmanship, and enduring relevance of printmaking as a contemporary art form.

The exhibition invites visitors to discover the many ways artists continue to push the boundaries of this historic medium while honoring its rich traditions.

The public is warmly invited to attend the Artists’ Reception on Sunday, August 16, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Guests will have the opportunity to view the exhibition, meet the participating artists, and enjoy light refreshments in the gallery.

Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, nurtures excellence in the arts through exhibitions, workshops, residencies and vibrant cultural events for its members and the public. Gloucester is very fortunate to have Maritime Heritage Charters at the Harbor Loop. Most Tuesdays throughout the summer allow people to take a harbor ride in a local schooner and participate in the “Schooner Challenge”. This educational opportunity allows apprentices interested in seeking a Captain’s license a chance to get some hours and be behind the helm. The exercise includes practicing maritime skills such as dropping anchor and raising sails. And you can too!! A ride aboard Ardelle includes a chance to volunteer to raise sails. Soemtimes shanties are sung…..anyhow it’s a great time on the water. Hope to see you next Tuesday!
