Andrew Williams of 3D Measure is performing a 3D laser scan on the National Historic Landmark Schooner Adventure, which was built in 1926, in Essex, Massachusetts, by the John F. James and Son Shipyard.

While a vessel is dry-docked, a laser measure can be made of the outside of the hull and deck, collecting "as-built" data. This data is then turned into a 3D surface model.
Naval Architects John and Fritz Koopman of Propulsion Data Systems of Marblehead will then use the 3D model together with an internal scan to produce a stability calculations, tonnage and other documentation which can be submitted to the US Coast Guard.

PROGRAM:
Wolpe: Toccata
Takemitsu: For Away
Charles Wuorinen: Adagio
Beethoven: Diabelli Variations
Recognized as an artist of passion and integrity, the distinguished American pianist Peter Serkin is one of the most thoughtful and individualistic musicians appearing before the public today.
Peter Serkin’s rich musical heritage extends back several generations: his grandfather was violinist and composer Adolf Busch and his father pianist Rudolf Serkin.
An avid proponent of the music of many of the 20th and 21st century’s most important composers, Mr. Serkin has been instrumental in bringing the music of Schoenberg, Webern, Berg, Stravinsky, Wolpe, Messiaen, Takemitsu, Henze, Berio, Wuorinen, Goehr, Knussen and Lieberson, among others, to audiences around the world.
He has performed many important world premieres, in particular, works by Toru Takemitsu, Peter Lieberson, Oliver Knussen and Alexander Goehr, all of which were written for him. Most recently, Mr. Serkin played the world premieres of Charles Wuorinen’s Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Boston Symphony/James Levine in Boston, at Carnegie Hall and at Tanglewood as well as a fifth piano concerto by Mr. Wuorinen with the Met Opera Orchestra/Levine, also at Carnegie Hall; a solo work by Elliot Carter commissioned by Carnegie Hall and the Gilmore International Keyboard Festival; and Mr. Wuorinen’s new piano quintet (commissioned by the Rockport, MA Music Festival) with the Brentano String Quartet.

Hi Joey,
Just came back from scouting out the GP situation…here’s what I know…
The pile-driving crew just drove in a test piling and located the anchor points before the wind picked up and they had to stop. The pilings will be driven into the mud 10 feet and pounded in another (roughly) 2 feet before it’s all said and done. Work will resume again on Black Friday, if there are calm winds. All work will be done at high tide in a four-hour window. They will drive in 6 poles and then make a platform that attaches at the top.

Pearson Pilings are being used. The pearson pilings use a proprietary formula which makes their pilings stronger than steel even though it’s much lighter.

PEARSON FIBERGLASS COMPOSITE PILINGS are today’s preferred building material for waterfront foundations, docks, piers and bridges. Our composite pilings are stronger than wood, steel or concrete pilings, and because they will not rust, rot or crumble, they will last virtually forever. Containing no chemical preservatives that leach into the water, our sustainable fiberglass composite pilings are environmentally friendly and are the choice of “green” developers of clean marinas and waterfront properties.
Kathy Chapman took this picture of the pilings loaded on the barge last week-
