The special coverage will be cohosted by Kory, owner of the Bridge Cape Ann, and Pauline Bresnahan, owner of Pauline’s Gifts, from a booth above the parade at lovely Gloucester Tavern on the Harbor and boulevard. Suprise guests and special reporters from along the parade route will join in with the emcees.

Warm up with some photographs of the Rose Bowl parade specific to Massachusetts taken by Pauline Bresnahan. She made sure to find the Rose Bowl Float featured in the Gloucester Daily Times. Pauline writes,
“Here are some of my favorite pictures from the Rose Bowl parade. The City of Burbank float is the one that was featured in the Gloucester Daily Times article. I love the flyover photo. It always gives me chills. I did not know until I got there that the UMASS band was in the parade. Their first appearance and they had the largest band in the parade with over 400 members…The Rose Bowl parade Theme this year was Making a Difference. Even a heart on the Poster. I think I was meant to go! The Grand Marshal was Gary Sinise, who played Sgt. Dan in Forrest Gump movie with Tom Hanks. He was just in Afghanastan with Gen. Milley, one of the Generals I met this year. Small world.” – Pauline Bresnahan

A fun night!!
It’s always amazing to drive around town the morning of the Fish Town Horribles Parade and see all the empty chairs and decorations! All of these shots were taken with my iPhone while fighting through traffic to drop off stuff at our GMG party corner. So this one is for all those folks who are not home, or moved out of town, enjoy! Now stop by the GMG tent and party with us!!!
Part 2 tomorrow…
Ringo Tarr and the Gloucester Fund present another FREE CONCERT on the Boulevard featuring THE RUNAROUND SOUND starting at 5pm at the corner of Centennial and Western Ave (the Boulevard).
This has become a spectacular annual July 3 event drawing thousands of people down to the water for great music, dancing and fun for the whole family.
Music begins at 5pm, breaks for the Parade, resumes after the parade, breaks for the fireworks and continues after the fireworks with a spectacular laser light show.
It’s a terrific way to celebrate our independence.
Here’s a glimpse of the party from last year

Last night, July 3, 2014, was the 7th anniversary of the annual Runaround Sound Extravaganza, a free concert on the Boulevard after the Horribles parade. Last night we had the biggest crowd of the past 7 years even though there were no fireworks. It really is all about the music. Check out the finale.
All I can say is that I’m honored to live in the City that brought us the tremendously talented Carlos Menezes, Jr., who, along with some of Gloucester’s best musicians perform this show for free every year — and Ringo Tarr, who, along with his team, do more work behind the scenes in one day than many people do in a month.
Vickie and Peter Van Ness report-
The Gloucester Fireworks Committee just cancelled tomorrow’s fireworks due to weather predictions (see Gloucester Times article here), but the Horribles Parade and free concert are still on in the hopes that weather will clear up.
Music featuring Cape Ann Big Band and The Runaround Sound will begin after the parade passes by the Boulevard stage (probably around 7:00pm) and continue until 11:00pm with a spectacular laser light show somewhere in between.
So come out and enjoy the parade and free concert. Let’s show all those people visiting from out of town that bad weather predictions aren’t enough to spoil our fun!
