Art Rock Found! Coincidence?

Last Sunday while driving around the Back Shore I decided to stop at the Elks club Parking lot and Sketch the scene before me on a Rock. Yeah, I know I’m Nuts.

I left it across the street from the Elks Club in the rocks where the Hotel has a sitting area.

I didn’t know my Son was going to bring his friends to the Elks Club to reserve it for their Wedding next year. I posted the Rock I sketched on here on GMG about 11am. I got a phone call at 2:30pm  from my son Paul the III telling me they found it. They thought my Son set it up, but he had no idea what I did that morning and I had no idea what he was going to do that day. (Strange ain’t it?) after they reserved the Elks club they walked down the road to where I left the “Art Rock”

Here is the email my son sent me;

Hey Dad, Heres the Picture of them holding the rock. They found it when they walked across from the elks to see where their wedding pictures will be taken. We were all standing around it and tom said “that rock has your name on it” Everyone thought my son Paul set it up. But he did’nt know anything about it. Now that’s a Coincidence! Tom and Joselin are getting married at Good Harbor Beach on labor day 2011 and having the reception at the elks.
Here’s a photo of Tom and his Fiance holding the ROCK. Good Luck Guys!! I hope you enjoy the Rock!

Drowning in Gloucester – News Coverage

All the News Stations came to Gloucester to report on the drowning at Braces Cove.

This is about the coverage.  Channel 4, 5 and 7 were all at Good Harbor Beach reporting.

I captured WBZ reporting on video.

My heart goes out to the family who lost a loved one today.

Get to the Beach by any means

People went to the beach by Taxi, Bike and even walked.  Good Harbor was crowded this weekend.

But some still found a spot to read a book in solitude.

Hi Joey,

Greetings from the two residents of Worcester who consider Gloucester our home away from home. Wista and Glosta share some defining, essential characteristics. Both are hard working communities, populated with real people who are proud of their heritages and willing to struggle for their futures.

It was very nice meeting you yesterday. The three lobsters were delicious and the GMG sticker was a fitting dessert.

As promised, here are some names to go with the pic you snapped of us yesterday while we were literally “holding the bag”: Rich & Hollis Laprade

For what it’s worth, attached are some pictures we took at Good Harbor this morning at sunrise. The light was changing by the second, so the atmosphere was unbelievably dynamic. Couple that with an astronomically low tide and the place was magic this morning.

Surfing at Good Harbor

I’ve been taking a break from posting recently because I was on my Gloucester vacation and totally took advantage of it by disconnecting myself from the world. It was wonderful!

Here are some surf pics. I still need a lot of practice but getting the hang of it. Look how beautiful that water is!

Lucky at Good Harbor Beach

During last nights lighting show I was lucky catching a lighting shot, and Mike from Delaware was lucky to find his lost car keys in the dark.

Good Harbor Beach – July 2010 Heat Wave

Relief from the Heat made Good Harbor Beach the place to be.

Everyone was enjoying the water, kids, parents, lovers and even some surfers.

Enjoy the photos and the video.

Good Harbor Beach – 1889

As we sit at Good Harbor Beach in this 90 degree weather, we can also enjoy the house on the rocks, at 24 Bass Rocks Road.

The house is on the Trail of Thai Royalty and has been photographed for over a hundred years, see photo from 1889 below, courtesy of Amy Shapiro.

It was used as the Summer Home of the Siamese Legation
