As part of my Piping Plover project, I often stop by Revere and Winthrop beaches when heading to and from job sites in Boston and Cambridge. While at Revere Beach yesterday, several TV news trucks pulled up in front of the police station and cameramen set up their cameras. I imagined perhaps another whale had washed ashore but bones of what are believed to be human have been collected by police.
I briefly met WBZ’s Carl Stevens and cameraman (both super nice). So sorry I didn’t get the cameraman’s name for the photo caption. If anyone knows, please write.
I didn’t have time to stick around and learn more although not much else is know at this time.

Summer is finally here, and with it comes the latest issue of Cape Ann Magazine, which has started arriving in mailboxes and on local newsstands.
Inside are stories highlighting some of the people and places that make this region special. Features include:
A whole lotta clams: A fifth generation of family is growing into the restaurant business as Woodman’s of Essex celebrates its 100th birthday this summer.
Where the monarchs go: Travel to Mexico with Kim Smith as she follows the majestic, but vanishing, monarchs to their winter grounds.

Gloucester lobster dealer Joey Ciaramitaro has seen a lot of strange creatures over the years.
Just look at his slideshow, “Freaks of The Lobster and Crab World.”
Now he has a new entry.
Over the weekend he discovered a triple pincher clawed lobster.
“I’ve never seen anything like this one,” he says in a video of the lobster posted on his blog, Good Morning Gloucester. “He’s got three pinchers on his pincher claw.”

It’s amazing to me how many media outlets are happy to use the pictures but don’t hyperlink back to the source. I wonder why that is. Look for my scorecard on how each media outlet handled the use of our material after tomorrow. So far there was WBZ radio this morning. Fox news last night, WCVB Channel 5 to look forward to tonight, the Boston Herald this morning. I’ll grade how well or how bad they messed up or neglected to cite or credit the source.
Update: Channel 5 just swung by to do a segment for tonight’s newscast. look for my ugly mug tonight.
