I know I’m right on this one.

I screwed up on yesterdays post: https://goodmorninggloucester.wordpress.com/2011/04/20/sheedys-beach-rocky-neck/

Plenty of people let me know. But I do appreciate it.

I have to make sure I do my research if I post any more Rocky Neck Photos. Especially if some of us GMG Authors become Neighbors with the Hard Partying Rocky Neckers. More on that later!

ABC Announces New Series “Expedition Impossible” to Premiere June 21

March 26th, 2011 · No Comments

EXPEDITION IMPOSSIBLE – PREMIERES TUESDAY, JUNE 21 (9:00-10:00 p.m.) – Adventurer, zoologist, big cat trainer and all-around risk taker Dave Salmoni hosts ABC’s epic summer series, “Expedition Impossible,” which features ordinary people doing the extraordinary in the biggest adventure of their lives. The show will feature 13 teams of 3, racing on an expedition across vast deserts, over snow capped mountains and through raging rivers. Each week a new stage of the expedition will be revealed to the teams.

Will they crumble under the pressure of having to think clearly in the wilds of the great outdoors, or will they find a way to work together to complete their adventures? After 10 stunning legs of competition, one team will cross the finish line first to claim victory. Mark Burnett and Lisa Hennessy serve as executive producers. Both the television show and format will be distributed internationally by Mark Burnett International Distribution.

Life Magazine: Gloucester is a top 10 beach town in America

image

Lover of all things Gloucester and huge supporter of our town Johnny McElhenny sends in this little Gloucester nugget-

Joey,

LIFE.com named Gloucester one of the top 10 most underrated beach towns in America. The list came out last summer so I wouldn’t make a big deal out of it.   So that you can see it if you want, the slide show starts here and the slides about Gloucester are here, here and here.

I figured you’d see my tweet about it and say, “John, why the #%@ didn’t you tell me about this?!”

So I’m telling you!

John Mc.

Treasured Audio-Gloucester History Cigar Joe Talks About Fishing In the Early Part of The Twentieth Century Part V

Good Morning Gloucester  Exclusive

Cigar Joe Frontiero born in 1898 these tapes were recorded in 1981 when he was 83 years old.

Click here or the arrow below to listen to the Cigar Joe audio Part V

The family of Cigar Joe Frontiero brings Good Morning Gloucester these treasured recordings of Fishing out of Gloucester MA in the early part of the century  in the second of the multi-part collection of recordings.  I’m happy that the family entrusted GMG with these priceless recordings and am proud to be able to have the platform in which we can archive and share with the community.

Look for part VI April 16th at 6AM

The history behind the tapes: Someone had asked Cigar Joe for an interview for an oral history project but Cigar Joe decided to do the recording himself. At the time he was having trouble with circulation in his legs and spent most of the time at home so he bought a tape recorder. He had trouble with the tape recorder and threw all of the tapes away. His mailman took the trashed tapes, spliced them, and made copies. He gave Cigar Joe copies and kept backups (with Cigar Joe’s consent) in case the originals were lost. This occurred in 1981.

Jane Cunningham writes-

Hi Joey,

This is a small sampling of the art. We have approximately 3200 students in our district. Look for more digital art displays around town starting the week of April 18th. Venues include the Sawyer Free Library, Cape Ann Museum, Cape Ann Community Cinema, and a few surprise places as well.

Thanks again for supporting arts in Gloucester.

You rock, Jane
