David Brooks, Shane O’Neil and Jesse Cremeans Deliver The Last of The Lobster Trap Tree Traps

It’s all fun when you are building the lobster Trap Tree and there are a bunch of people lending a hand.  Dismantling it and delivering the traps long after the fanfare has subsided shows dedication.

Huge props to the boys working in the snow and cold to finish up a job well done!

Gloucester Lobster Trap Tree ’10 -The Beginning

Featuring the 9:00AM Crew- David and Daniel Brooks, Paul Morrison, Shane and his brother The Emo kid, Scotty Horne, Ed Collard, Donna Ardizzoni and Rick Moore.

If you have any time at all today they could surely use a hand constructing the Lobster Trap tree.  If you are not able to physically help maybe you could drop off some warm cider or hot coffee.  It is cold as a motherfu$%er up there at Gloucester Police Station Pavillion.

We will be taping for The Learning Channel as well so come on down and be part of the fun.

Donna Ardizzoni is down there lugging traps that are bigger than her.  That woman is crazy I’m telling you!

Also if there are any lobstermen that have any lobster traps that they can contribute to the tree please swing down.  David and company will pick them up and drop them back off in your yard when the tree is dismantled.

Looking For Lobster Trap Tree Volunteers

Help build the lobster trap tree!

image

Hi Joey,

Please get the word out.

The Planned build for the 2010 Lobster Trap Christmas Tree is This Sat-Sun. Nov. 22-28th. We are still in need of volunteers for the build. Which will start at 9:00 AM. There are a few other ways to help. We are still looking to borrow traps so if you know anyone who may have good strong traps the more the merrier. We are looking to have a total of around 450 traps, the more traps from less fisherman the less we will have to run around. Also we may need help coordinating the events for the lighting of the tree on Dec. 11th around 4:30PM. We may also need someone to coordinate having TV releases for those on camera. So if anyone is interested in that please contact me directly at david-brooks@hotmail.com.  Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, and for those who and to work off the calories I can think of a better way to do that than to lift a few hundred traps.

Best,

David Brooks

Jamie O’Hara Lugs Lobster Traps Up The Ladder While Ed Collard Spots and David Brooks Places

From Jamie O’Hara-

I want to thank everyone who helped out in building the tree on both Friday and Saturday. Friday, well Friday was not a good weather day but as Gregg B. Smith said, it was like hauling the traps at sea. Today was sunny and blowing a gale. Thank you to the nice lady who brought us hot chocolate and donuts. They both hit the spot. A special thank you to Hiltz Disposal and Lonny for their help. We could not have completed the tree today with out the “roll off”. Lonny was great helping out. The Captains who donated the use of their traps, Thank you. Happy Birthday Ed C. David and Daniel, great job. I would go into any project with you guys. Jeff W, well Jeff is the leader and this 10 years of experience is visible in the construction of the tree. Thank you to the Building Center for the use of their truck as well as the donation of top secret materials. For the people of Rockland, thank you for the “battle”, it is much fun. We wish Rockland a very Merry Christmas.

David Brooks From Art Haven Weighs In On The Gloucester vs Rockland Lobster Trap Tree Debate

From David Brooks-

So just so you all know this year the street will be shut down 3:30-5:00 so we can accomodate the masses of people who will be coming out to see the lighting of New Englands biggest and best Lobster Trap Christmas Tree!

Did anyone mention the the Gloucester Tree is adorned with the artwork of hundreds of Gloucester childrens. The Lobster Trap Tree represents more than just Christmas. It is a true representation of the fisherman of Gloucester, their families and the rich artistic heritage that makes Gloucester what we all hold so dear.

Our tree is more than just wire and rope and bricks. Its a symbol, and that what make it so much better the the Rockland tree.
