My View of Life on the Dock

Good morning Joey.
Heard your discussion about Chicago in your last podcast. Gloucester is my adopted city, but Chicago is my home town.
I visited Chicago in December and while there, represented GMG at Second City and in Little Italy, where I lived.
Leona’s was one of my favorite pizza places in the area. Stopped there for dinner after Second City; one of the few places to eat still open at 10 pm on a Sunday night. I was happy to see it’s still there more than 30 years later. Some of the same people were even still working there. The only thing that seemed different was the color of the table clothes. Maybe next time I visit I’ll bring back some pizza for a ‘Gloucester-Chicago’ pizza contest. 🙂
Have a great day. Karen

Yesterday around 5:30 pm on Shore Road came across flying Sea Foam. So what is Sea Foam? Definition from Wikipedia: Sea foam, ocean foam, beach foam, or spume is a type of foam created by the agitation of seawater, particularly when it contains higher concentrations of dissolved organic matter (including proteins, lignins, and lipids)[1] derived from sources such as the offshore breakdown of algal blooms. These compounds can act as surfactants or foaming agents. As the seawater is churned by breaking waves in the surf zone adjacent to the shore, the presence of these surfactants under these turbulent conditions traps air, forming persistent bubbles that stick to each other through surface tension. Due to its low density and persistence, foam can be blown by strong on-shore winds from the beachface inland.

Artist’s Statement :Fishing and the sea have defined Gloucester for centuries. The sights and smells of the water and boats are everywhere. I love roaming the docks in Gloucester to see what’s happening and perhaps capture a compelling image. These photographs attempt to convey some of the unique marine flavor of Gloucester – especially the rugged beauty of the city’s pride, its fishing boats. And a few shots of the wide horizon’s grander view as well. My focus is on light, color and pleasing patterns, on large or small scale. I hope you enjoy viewing these pictures as much as I’ve enjoyed making them. Walk around Gloucester and check out the waterfront in person! Biography: This show combines my lifelong passion for boats and the sea with the art of photography. I first visited Gloucester during college, while in Boston for a work term at…

In the year 2077, the United States has become a post-apocalyptic footnote in the world history books. The only place freedom still exists is in a shielded underwater city called The Atoll where a group of Christian refugees are trying to start over. The Atoll inhabitants are hated for their freedoms and hunted for their technology, but even in their protective bubble treachery still finds a way in.
