Something to fill the void in the off Fiesta months when we’re missing our beloved Greasy Pole. Or maybe we could set it up for this Friday’s block party. Start out at the intersection of Middle and Hancock and let it demolish people all the way down to I4C2.
Telegraph– A Spanish village’s attempt to invent a “cruelty-free” version of bull-running by replacing the animals with giant balls has ended in tragedy after two people were seriously injured.
One man was left in a coma after sustaining a serious head injury when he was crushed against metal barriers by the 300-kilogramme resin ball which chased runners around the town of Mataelpino, near Madrid during the event over the weekend.
Another man suffered three broken ribs and concussion.
The mayor of Mataelpino, whose idea of substituting in the balls – painted with bull’s faces – seven years ago has been emulated by other Spanish towns, has said the council will review its safety protocols before next year’s event.
Good times!

The special exhibit currently on display at the Rose Baker Senior Center is a group show featuring works by eighteen artists. The artists meet in the Senior Center art room with Art Director Juni Van Dyke on Tuesdays and Thursdays to advance their skills in painting and drawing. This exhibit demonstrates the wondrous individuality of each of the 18 artists in the group.
Pictured starting on the left in in the back row are: Natalie Daley, Doreen Ross, Geri Dammeyer, Barbara Maddix, Helen Burgess, Barbara Jobe, Judy Menicocci, Gen McNamara, Ed Leavitt, and Kay Carpenter. And in the front row are: Diane Taka, Juni VanDyke and Pippy Giuliano.

Thanks to the City of Gloucester, Google and HP- 8th graders received their brand new chrome books tonight. Gloucester O’Maley Innovation Middle School was buzzing with excitement.
Assistant Principal (and beloved former social studies teacher), Mr. Jeff Destino, explained the rules and responsibilities.

From there, parents and the 8th grade students headed to the sky high, skylit, art adorned hub, the Commons, set up tonight with temporary tables stacked high with tech.

Toby Burnham, also known as The Seagull Whisperer, and his lobster boat the Jupiter II, spotted along the Back Shore.
and a couple of stand up paddle boarders enjoying the end of summer rollers. Nice waves out there.

The Columbia and the Roseway are already in. Went to the Maritime Gloucester Pier and could see The Columbia, Ardelle and The Schooner Adventure. When driving through Stage Fort Park, saw the Roseway coming into port.

My Special Guests: DOWN HOME SWING!

Such a treat for us all to have Downhome Swing as our Rhumb Line music guests… for so many reasons. First off, the level of musicianship is totally off the charts. Marston by himself is a treasure. Add that Laurie and Ellen have such a natural vocal blend, you’d swear they were sisters! And… we of course must take full advantage of the limited time we have each year with the Keefes before they head back to St. John. Yes, we are lucky! ~ Fly
