Three new songs in less than a month from Cape Ann’s most prolific songwriter

Allen Estes is on a roll!  Just in the last week, he’s written 2 new songs.  And last month he premiered this gem, recorded for his show Local Music Seen that will air later this month.  (If you were at the Docksiders’ benefit on March 31 you heard the song in this video).

Allen is Fly Amero’s guest tonight at the Rhumb Line at 8pm, so head on down and request one of his new songs!

Later in the evening, check out local drummer Dennis Monagle (see him battle it out on drums with the Docksiders here) as he welcomes Jeremy Parker, Justin Piper and John Aruda for some Organ Funky music at Minglewood.

You can start your evening out by singing at the Annie at 7pm.

But before you go out, be sure to catch Orville Giddings on  Local Music Seen at 6:30 on Cape Ann TV Channel 12.

So it’s a great night of music in Gloucester starting at 6:30.  See full music lineup here.

Videographer Rich Lee Directs Ed Collard Behind The Scenes

Check out the Rich Lee wikipedia page

Rich Lee is an American music video and commercial director signed to DNA in Hollywood, California and Flynn Productions in the United Kingdom. He has directed music videos for Eminem, The Black Eyed Peas, Norah Jones, Michael Bublé and The All-American Rejects. Rich Lee started his professional career as a sculptor and fabricator for broadway shows in New York City. He later moved on to computer graphics and created 3d previsualizations for big budget hollywood feature films such as The Pirates of the Caribbean I, II & III, I Am Legend, Minority Report and Constantine. From the encouragement of feature film directors he moved into directing music videos and commercials

How fast does Orville usually play this song?

In this video from Local Music Seen (watch it tomorrow at 6:30pm on Cape Ann TV Cable Channel 12  — see all air times here), Orville Giddings reveals that he plays this song at different tempos depending on who’s accompanying him.  Does he play it faster or slower with host Allen Estes?

You can see Allen & Orville on Sunday at the Rhumb Line.  But don’t wait until Sunday to go out.  There’s great music all week long!  See this week’s full music lineup here.

Video Edit App for iPhoneographers

Following in Father Green’s footsteps, I am sharing my experience with the Video Edit app for the iPhone. The purpose for installing Video Edit is to be able to instantly upload and blog videos for GMG readers.

Prunus cerasifera ‘Thundercloud’

Rendering and compressing are very, very fast in this  application; it is designed for ease of use and for speed. There are are no editing transitions, audio overlays, or other extra features included in this app, however that is not necessary when you want to capture, edit, and share in the fastest time possible.

Open Video Edit, click on the plus sign in the lower right corner, chose a clip from your camera roll, and click Choose in the lower right hand corner. Wait while the application compresses the video clip; a one minute clip took about 20 seconds to compress. You can add up to twenty clips and rearrange the clips in any order by dragging the clips in the timeline with your fingertip. Next type in the title, click Done. Click the check mark in the upper right corner, which brings you to the Render To page. You can render to iPhone, Email, Facebook, or YouTube. The 2 minute and 9 second video took less than ten seconds to render to my iPhone and twelve minutes approximately to render to youtube. Done-BOOM! That is as far as I can go on my own–next step is to ask Joey how to live blog it!

Filmed on Plum Street, Gloucester. Liltingly fragrant and a hummingbird attractant, Prunus cerasifera ‘Thundercloud’ is the most widely planted purple-leaf street tree in the U.S.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Beeman School this Wednesday & Thursday

The production features 25 fourth and fifth grade Beeman students and is directed by Beeman Music teacher Beth Goldberg and Gloucester Stage Youth Acting Workshop director and actress Heidi Dallin.

Why is he so happy singing the blues?

Allen Estes‘ friend Orville Giddings just always seems so happy even when he’s singing sad songs.  Orville is Allen’s guest on Local Music Seen this week.  If you have cable you can see them on Channel 12 Wednesday, Friday & Sunday (see schedule here).  And you can see them perform on Sunday at the Rhumb Line.

This is a big week for Gloucester.  Captain Carlo’s opens on Friday the 13th with Jenny Dee & the Deelinquents!
