Johnny Carwash tonight @ The Dave Sag’s Blues Party ~ The Rhumb Line 8:30 to 11:30 June 19, 2014

Dave says,
A special treat for you this week as I welcome back Johnny Carwash: Mr. Bobby Davis. Long a staple in the gloucester  scene, Bob’ll have you rollicking in your Snapjax , pedal to the metal, playing your favorite instrumental hits long made popular on your Zenith® stereophonic hi-fi system. Not only that, but he’s bringing along a Gloucester legend in the form of Mr.Jason Chamberlain . This cat was around in the beginning and I’ve heard about him for years. I’m so happy to have him join us. His old band The Galaxies was the biggest thing around these parts many years ago, and I know there’s a lot of folks who remember him. Something new and different! David “Doc” Vincent  will be  tapping the skins and I’ll be on base. Get out the poodle skirts and the Brylcreem®! Seeya there!

I’d like to take the time to let you all know that June 13th will be my last show with the Bandit Kings. My last show with Safety will be at the end of the Summer.
It’s been an amazing run with incredibly talented musicians.
Music lovers, friends, and family, you continue to help make the magic happen.
I’ve been lucky to have many paths to follow, but it’s time for me to venture onto another.
Thank you so much for rocking with me, and I hope to see you on the dance floor!

Thursday Night Blues Party @ The Rhumb Line to host Ricky “King” Russell with Ed Scheer and Mario Perrett 8:30-11:30.

dave sag rl 4.3.2014

It’s been a while so put away that greasy kid stuff and welcome back those charming rascals of Rhythm: Edd, Ricky and Mario. These guys fit like an old pair of smelly shoes!
Ricky “King” Russell has long been a palimpsest on the Boston scene, what with his searing  guitar and ironic vocals. What’s not to like? Then there’s Eddie Scheer, front man , emcee and Osphena® sales rep on drums and vocals,  Mario Perrett, saxist and former teen idol on sax and vocals. We always manage to tear the joint apart and put it back together for the next time. We all sing and harmonize, sometimes at the same time!  One of my all-time favorite outfits! Come see! Don’t forget: our hours are now 8:30 to 11:30.

Then, this Saturday nite, I am honored to join Ms. Mari Martin and her really hot band ( the Lucky Boys) at the Rhumb Line. Easily the best singer around, Mari brings an incredible amount of great energy to the stage and will have you rollicking in the aisles and spilling your beer all over your chinese shoes. Come dance the night away.
And for the Cheez-Whiz and jello crowd, don’t  forget next Monday afternoon at the Rose Baker Senior Center downtown, where the Old Salty Jazz Band holds sway from 1 to 3.  It’s free! These guys are a riot!

Get away from the computer, but stay in the know anyhow

Aurelia Nelson @ Jalapenos

Tomorrow (SUN) morning at 9:00 A.M., on Aurelia Nelson’s 104.0 FM radio show Curtain Up, Peter gives us a rundown of Gloucester’s early Summer event highlights — yes, we know Summer doesn’t begin astronomically until the solstice (June 21 at 6:51 A.M.) but it’s sunny today, so we’re gonna push the season and call it Summer.

The cool thing about listening to a radio show like Curtain Up is that you don’t have to be sitting down at the computer to find out what’s going on.  You could be cleaning the house, weeding the garden, driving, cooking breakfast … or just sitting on the front porch with a cup of coffee … relaxing.

Get up early tomorrow (9am is 0-dark-hundred for us) and listen in so when your friends ask, “What is there to do up there in Gloucester?” you’ll have ready answers at the tip of your tongue.  Then, for last minute updates, you can always check our live music schedule here.

SELL-OUT WARNING: THE TOASTERS on Beauport Princess Cruise Ship with the MILE 21 Reunion Next Friday

If you’ve been following our recent posts (like this one) you know we’ve been warning you of potential sell-outs, so you don’t lose out.

Last weekend’s James Cotton/Jay Geils show at The Larcom in Beverly sold out by Wednesday.

Next Friday’s (6/13) Concert Cruise featuring The Toasters with a special reunion of local favorites Mile 21 aboard Gloucester’s very own cruise ship, Beauport Princess is likely to sell out too.

The Toasters (called Ska “Pioneers” by Billboard Magazine) will bring their infections brand of Ska, Reggae, Jazz, Punk & Soul to Gloucester as part of their 2014 world tour.

Mile 21’s 2014 reunion features Lead Vocalist Mike Francis, Carlos Menezes, Jr. on trombone, Keith Amero on Bass, Steve Russo on Drums, Mike Lentini on saxophone, and Mike Goulart on lead guitar.  These guys alone are worth the price of admission.

Tickets are only $35 in advance and include this very special Concert PLUS a Gloucester Harbor Cruise and Party Buffet featuring Seafood Grille’s world famous Lobster Rolls!

As you might expect, seating is limited (this is a cruise ship, remember) so if you want to get aboard, you’re going to have to act quickly and get your tickets here.

You don’t want to be one of those losers who waits until it’s sold out and then tries to convince Homeland Security to let you aboard, do you?

Just in case you’re not sure what I mean by infections, watch this video:
