BBJ names 2012 ‘Pacesetters’: Boston’s fastest-growing private cos.

The Boston Business Journal Tuesday announced the 2012 Pacesetters — a list of the region’s fastest-growing privately held companies. To make the list, a company had to report a three-year growth rate of 10 percent.

“Fast-growing private companies are at the core of Boston’s economic strength,” said Chris McIntosh, publisher of the Boston Business Journal. “Our Pacesetters list is a celebration of local innovation and business leadership.”

You Can Now Pin Us! Pinterest Share Button Under Each Post

With the huge success of Pinterest I and many others wrote WordPress asking for a Pin It! button under each post as a sharing option.  Well the folks at WordPress came through and it is now an option for those of you who use Pinterest to collect and share ideas.

I hear it’s very addictive.

So under each post (or if you don’t see it if you click on the title of that post) you will now have a Pinterest share button in addition to the Facebook, Twitter, email, Google +, Linked In and Press this buttons.

Here is a screen shot of what those options look like when you are viewing the blog on the website http://www.goodmorninggloucester.com as opposed to the nightly feed in your email.  Even if you subscribe and get the daily posts emailed to you at the end of the night you really ought to bookmark us as we update every hour on the hour from 6AM-8PM on the blog itself.

Chickity Check It! Tacos Lupita Has A New Website

Menus, Food Photos, Directions and More.

I built it for them when they asked.  Hope you like it.

Probably the most useful thing on there is the pictures of food which weren’t prepared special for the website, they were just photos of dishes they made for customers while I was there.  Allso the menu with prices on it gives you an idea of just how affordable it is.

Last time there Dee Noble was there with 3 kids and the whole bill for sit down lunch was $20 and change.  Seriously?  How do you beat that?

GMG tribute To ‘Tek

If you’ve been an FOB for any amount of time you know that from the hundreds of interviews I perform from my desk that I frame my subjects with two of my favorite things hanging on the wall  in our office- The New York Post Cover of ARod with the huge caption “A-Hole” and the framed print of Jason Varitek stuffing his mitt up in ARod’s grillpeice.

So the sports reporters will ask if his number deserves to be retired at Fenway to which I respond “Are you serious?”

Without his leadership and without this scene below igniting his team you don’t have a ring.  Bottom line, end of story.

image

Well ‘Tek is retiring so I thought I’d just go back a bit and pull up a few of the interviews.  I’m not sure if my interviewees are aware that’s how I frame my shots but in case you weren’t paying attention, here you go-

Craigslist For Perennials? Yeah Susan Kelly and Terese O’Connell Got That Covered at www.generousgardeners.com

Freshly Launched This is Just Brilliant For Sharing What’s Already In Your Garden or To Locate What You Would Like To Have In Your Garden!

This from Gloucester resident Susan-

What is your garden worth? “Find out by listing your extra plants, seeds and produce on our new website.” says co-founder and Gloucester resident Susan Kelly.

Gloucester gardeners now have an online site that lets them choose the option of selling, swapping or donating their extra plants, seeds or produce to other local gardeners. “We are so excited to be able to help gardeners make some extra money from plants right out of their own backyard.” says Kelly.  GenerousGardeners.com uses Google maps to allow gardeners to find listings from neighbors, as well as list their own plants for discovery by local gardeners.

Started by two avid New England gardeners, one a long-time year round Gloucester resident, Generous Gardeners knows that gardeners love to share plants. This new website facilitates what has been common practice among gardening friends and garden clubs. It also includes an extensive plant database for propagation and maintenance information.

Gardeners can now start listing plants for sale, swap or donation on www.generousgardeners.com

Current plant donations are needed for the Second Annual Generous Gardeners Plant Sale benefiting the Gloucester Education Foundation. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 19th at Stage Fort Park, Gloucester, MA. Donating gardeners will receive a tax deductible receipt equal to the amount of their donated plant’s sale proceeds.

Last year the sale produced over $2,000 for the Gloucester Education Foundation (GEF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to making Gloucester one of the five best school districts in Massachusetts. For more info contact susan@generousgardeners.com

Cardiologist Mario Motta’s Planetary Telescope From Karen Pischke

Hi Joey.

I LOVE E.J’s. art featured in today’s (2/18) blog! FANTASTIC piece E.J.! Cape Ann is especially GREAT for celestial viewing and one of the many things I LOVE about Cape Ann. Cardiologist Mario Motta M.D. chose Cape Ann as the site for his planetary telescope! (See- http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2008/01/31/eyes_on_the_skies/.) This month has been especially beautiful, with many bright planets visible with the naked eye. I hear Mercury will be most visible starting Feb 20 – beginning of March.

Imagine that?  That’s a serious telescope, right here in G-Town!

Chickity Check It! Former Rockport Lobster Dealer Charlie Fields Has A Blog

Joey, I used to own the New England Lobster Company on Pigeon Cove Wharf and now spend retirement between Magnolia and Sun City West, Arizona. Every morning I get the GDT online and enjoy your blog contribution. I am not too sure how these blog sites actually work but as a sculptor and author of a memoir and four travel mysteries I am slowly learning how they can be effective in social networking. Check out my website designed by another blogger, Kathleen Valentine: www.charleslfields.com ( That’s an L in the middle)).
