Here’s a little video of some of the demolition started this morning at Art Haven’s new space at 11 Pleasant Street. They’re looking for some volunteers to come help rip up carpets tomorrow afternoon if anyone’s interested… Great way to get out some pent up aggression! Just call (978) 283-3888 or email su@orenblu.com for more details or just come down at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon!

Young Artist of the week!
This young artist of the week is a very talented 14-year-old photographer named Sarah. Sarah does digital and darkroom photography, and did a great series of graffiti photography last fall for the TAG gallery opening [one pictured below]. Above are some of her photos on display at Nights on the Neck last summer, but you can see more of her work at the TAG gallery at 180B Main St.
If you know of a young artist that should be featured here, email dawn.gadow@gmail.com with a short description and a photo of some of their work!

Young Artist of the week!
This week’s young artist is Caroline, shown above with her book from Art Haven’s bookmaking workshop this week. Caroline has taken all kinds of art classes in everything from fractal art to summer playcamp, and she can’t wait to be a part of the Teen Artist Guild when she gets a little older. She told me she really likes to take things from around her house and make them beautiful by repainting and redesigning them!
Also, she made one of the prettiest shields on Lord of the Rings Day (not sure if that’s what you should be looking for in a shield, but I think it’s pretty great…)

Young Artist of the week!
This young artist of the week is a very talented boy named Jason who painted this interpretation of Winslow Homer’s Two Men in a Canoe on a toolbox that he built himself. Jason picked out this painting himself and, I think, did a beautiful job of making it his own. What a cool piece of artwork for him to have and use for a long time!

Favorite trail running spot on Cape Ann?
In my mind, nothing beats running through the woods. Personally, I’m a fan of long runs where I run like a little kid – speed through the parts I’m excited about, stop to check out the really cool things, and slow down or even walk when I want to. I know this isn’t the proper way to train for a race, but I think running should be fun and firmly believe I’ll be a better runner (or at least go running more often) if I keep it fun.
That being said, eventually I’ll remember to take a camera with me on a run along the Ledge Hill Trail through Ravenswood Park. If you’ve never seen the view from the top of the ledge up there overlooking the harbor, you need to. So either go do it yourself now, or you’ll see it digitally when my camera makes it up there with me.
In any case, what I really want is for some of you to share your favorite spots to galavant through the woods of Cape Ann! If you’re willing to share, leave it in the comments section. And if you’ve got a picture, even better! Email it to me (dawn.gadow@gmail.com) and I’ll post it for all to enjoy… Meanwhile, get out and enjoy it!
Young Artist of the week!
This young artist of the week is a very multi-talented boy named Ivan who made this incredible embossed monster in this week’s Metal Tooling class at Art Haven! Ivan has already taken art classes in a variety of mediums, and it’s always exciting to see what ideas and creatures come out of his creative mind next…
