BSA Troop 60 will be holding a can drive to help supplement ALL people effected by the Federal shut down who need help. We will be collecting  at 

Bank Gloucester and Cape Ann Savings Bank Jan. 19th, 8:30am – 12:00 pm.  We would appreciate anyone wishing to help stop by with a monitary donation or gift cards.  We have partnered with The Open door for distributions. 

We will also be collecting food, gift cards, household goods etc. and monitary donations at the Boy Scout Hall and Chargers building located next the the West Gloucester Fire Station on Tuesday Night from 6:30 – 8:30 Jan 22 & 29

We are also planning to have temporary collection container for gift cards and monitary donation around the city at local businesses. Anyone wishing to have one dropped off at their business may contact

Donations for Coast Guard

Maritime Gloucester is accepting gift card donations for the Coast Guard this weekend: Friday, January 18 and Saturday, January 19 between 10am and noon, and Sunday, January 20th 12pm to 2pm. Gift cards to local food stores accepted, no cash please. Any amount welcome and very appreciated.  So easy to do, when shopping at the local supermarkets please pick up a gift card.

SeniorCare presents The SAVVY Caregiver Workshop

SeniorCare Inc., will host The SAVVY Caregiver, a free six-week workshop at its offices located at 49 Blackburn Center in Gloucester, MA, from February 1, through March 8, 2019.

The Savvy Caregiver Program is a free six-session training for family and friends who are active caregivers, caring for those living with Alzheimer’s or related dementias.

Taking care of a person living with Alzheimer’s or related dementia is specialized work. To do this work successfully, caregivers need special skills, knowledge, and a positive attitude that helps them to care themselves.

Savvy Caregiver will help participants:
• Understand the impact of dementia on both you and the person you are caring for,
• Learn the skills you need to manage daily life,
• Take control and set goals,
• Communicate more effectively,
• Strengthen family resources,
• Feel better about your caregiving, and
• Take care of you.
