There’s a free, volunteer-based online service offered through Find-a-Grave which allows people to view headstone photos taken by volunteers as a way of advancing their family history research. I am one of those volunteers and I recently re-visited Beechbrook Cemetery in hopes of fulfilling such a request. There were a number of requests on the list that day, and even though it was a little rainy, I decided to see what I might find there. Any excuse to visit this wonderful place is OK by me, rainy or not.

Sounds of children playing rang through the air off to one side, while excited dog barks filled the air coming from the opposite. I relished every minute until the raindrops threatened my camera’s well being. I did find one gravestone from the list to add to the online inventory:

Lucky for me, it was nice and easy to photograph and read. It isn’t always so! I love searching to fill these requests, it gives me a very good feel for the cemetery’s personality. And you never know who you might run into…..I think they were Find-a-Graving too……

This is so interesting to me! What a great service to provide. I want to go with you next time I am there to help!

Essex and looks like the Canadian Geese were out doing some finding of there own green grass etc. The cemeteries they have a lot of documentation now that makes looking up much easier on-line even before you go visit. Thanks Pat D. For sharing! 🙂 Dave & Kim 🙂

Any local funeral home has the expertise to assist you with that. Having the deeds or ownership documents pertaining to the family plot will make everything much simpler to plan.
