Sad to hear and see but as a community you will all put together to regroup in the Cape Ann Spirit this is where teaming is most important and the community is well know for this I know from a very personal level growing up there!
A little walk back and shows how this community has overcome so many storms stay strong and you are all in our thoughts and prayers during the difficult path ahead thanks for the communications some reflection from me. Bless You all! Dave & Kim
What I love about GMG is the walk back and forward here and now. It’s always good to talk, listen, and view, (Listen & Learn) from the BLOG with friends and family, reflection.
I talk with sister and family on a weekly basis sometimes more. My sister told me about her time living in west Gloucester. I would say some great memories and challenges we all face in life.
Above all – I love the walks back & to present to see where we were and how far we have come, each day is a lesson on the path of life.
Talked with Aunt Mom’s sister about grandmothers 100 year birthday party in Bay View. She almost made it to 107 years old what a woman indeed (love, song and faith). And told of how Grandfather “MAC,” would get a load of pig manure delivered by Bobby Nugent, from the Nugent’s pig farm located along Nugent stretch between Rockport and Gloucester.
My Grandfather sure did love his garden there in Bay view green thumb for sure ran in the family. I know us kids loved those fresh vegetables and he was always sharing with neighborhood too. Of course Aunt was not a big fan of the manure smell
The family lived in Lanesville in 1930’s Duly Street, then, moved to Bay View on North Kilbey Street she told me about the large granite stone wore out many cloths sliding on this rock. Later the family moved to Washington Street next door to Gina and Vic’s general store. Aunt also told me Grandfather delivered milk by horse cart for a while before going to work at Bay View Consolidated Lobster Company (Hodgkin’s Cove) as a truck driver delivering Lobster’s in Mass to Nova Scotia.
Stay Strong together!
