  1. We had new moon spring tides last week including an 11.5 foot high last Saturday night. I think that is why we had the drifting kayaks and logs and seaweed. They do get as high as 12 feet though even without an onshore breeze.

    Published on May 14, 2016 “The Tide Is High” is a 1966 song written by John Holt, originally produced by Duke Reid and performed by the Jamaican group the”Paragons, with John Holt as lead singer”. The song gained international attention in 1980, when a version by the American band Blondie became a US/UK #1 hit.

    It was released as the lead single from the band’s fifth studio album, Auto-American (1980) and was Blondie’s third #1 smash on the Billboard Hot 100 and their fifth in the UK. It also went on to reach the top three of Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart, and was popular throughout the world, reaching no. 4 in Australia, and no. 15 in Germany.
