Just when you’ve lost a few pounds, gotten yourself into decent shape, and are feeling good and proud of yourself, you stumble across that 45 year old photo which tosses all illusions out the window. Surfing buddy, Karen Husby, and I at Ogunquit Beach, ME, circa 1970.

I know, aren’t they? I guess we got them at the same place, maybe at the same time. I don’t remember.

I was going through old family photos with my mother and came across this one, which I didn’t remember ever seeing before, so it was a nice little way back memory. We had such great summers growing up at Ogunquit – swimming, surfing, skimboarding, exploring tidal pools, rock climbing, collecting and turning in deposit soda bottles, family reunions, lobster feasts. We stayed in a big old farmhouse with a well and an outhouse with spiders, and surrounding meadows and woods to explore, listening to the whip-poor-wllls at night and catching fireflies galore. I hadn’t thought about those summers in a long time.
