The coyotes here on the woodsy side of Witham Street by GHBeach are EXTREME; 3 groups communicate loudly and many boldly trot down my drive evening/nightly. The Yips sounds are not kits like it sounds, but the females, the Howls that follow, the males I’ve been told. The last 3 years have doubled the sightings and sounds, each year! No outdoor cats left on Witham St.

During Astronomy Club out on Halibut Point they fired up a song or two. I have a fat rabbit stuffed with Brussels Sprouts that they can munch on if I don’t wring its neck first.

I’ll send them down the street to you Paul – they are in the woods behind our house every night making sounds like this and more, one night it sounded like they caught something – it was a horrible sound. They trot right down Haven Ave most nights, James was walking our dog a few nights ago and there were two in the neighbor’s yard, Lola wanted to go them. My son has seen 5 together, surprised they haven’t already made a meal of the bunny though I am actually seeing more bunnies than before the invasion.

My crazed hypothesis: The Coywolf is smarter than the Fisher it is displacing. We had two Fishers that I last saw speeding down Haven Ave like wisps of smoke three years ago. When the Fishers were here, no bunnies. I think the Coywolf knows that if they eat all the bunnies they might have to get a day job so they farm the bunnies. Just like lobsters they toss back the shorts and let them breed.
The wolf DNA is now over 50% so these new dudes are smarter than your normal coyote. They are bunny farmers.
The worst noise I ever heard was siamese cats in heat. Went on all night. Coywolf doesn’t put up with that nonsense.

Human population increases what used to be woods and habitat some places easy to find food may play here also! And what I know about Coyotes, they do not make a distinction between domestic cats and small dogs they see them as food in the food chain please be extra careful here with your pets! Very rare sightings unless in the woods during my time – saw foxes more than coyotes.

Felicia – last Xmas Eve leaving your house right at the end of your street was a big coyote – it panicked in the headlights and tried to find a way thru the tall grasses there – they scare me, I don’t want to be outside at night anymore around our house.

I haven’t seen an outdoor cat in ages but I do see a ton more birds and snakes. That is not a coincidence. I will take that trade off any day.

Live over on Grapevine and there are packs that live next to our house! We see them every night in our front yard (fresh tracks every morning) and they do not run when we open the front door! They are not intimidated at all by us and the real scary thing is they are out now during the day everywhere! Have come up on them walking my dogs and back away slowly while they sit and watch. It has become very scary! I just hope that they are not rabid and begin to attack the people in our neighborhood! I feel for them as their living space has definitely been encroached upon over the last 5-10 years but I think something should be done to try and relocate some of these packs….of course without killing any of them as they are beautiful animals!

People say the coyotes living space has been encroached upon in the last few years bit isn’t so. They have adapted to live and thrive in populated areas and our living space is being encroached upon. They are everywhere now and it will take someone’s child being killed before we realize that coyotes are dangerous. They need to be exterminated. If you had a rat infestation wouldn’t you get rid of them? why are coyotes any different?
