I accidently disturbed an underground bees nest this afternoon while working in the backyard with St. Barry. Within seconds of feeling a sting I was surrounded by hundreds of bees, which chased me all the way around the house as I ran for cover yelling OUCH!
My back swelled immediately. After 5 minutes of icing I decided to make a post on Facebook seeking treatment advice. I love the power of Facebook. In 30 seconds remedy’s were shared, by friends…
Mary Beth StantonMake sure the stinger is out. Scrap it with a credit card or drivers license. Make a paste with baking soda and water and apply to the area.
Paula Bertolinowash it with soap and water and put an antiitch cream on. I got stung a month ago, then Andy went out and got stung too..Just like you. I ended up in the drs because the swelling was so bad and got a red line up my arm.
Lorinda Barry CantyI got stung a couple of weeks ago for the first time in my life…I mixed baking soda and some water made a paste, spread it on and let it dry…And then I repeated it…
Rosaria Giambanco- FloydHoly shit it sounds like cooking recipes just make sure the string is out keep clean call me morning
Paula BertolinoI did the baking soda and water too and the dr asked me why i did that.
Alison Lote MonellWindex!
Didn’t you see “my big fat Greek wedding “. ?
Hope it’s better
Felicia Ciaramitaro Mohanjust did the baking soda … feels a little better after several applications! I have a high tolerance for pain…Wow can’t believe how much my back hurts…
Late summer through early fall bees seem to take over, parks playgrounds, and ball fields. I vividly remember swatting bees at my son BJ’s pee wee football games and running for cover on many occasions. After today experience I thought I ask ” what’s your favorite bee sting remedy?”

I adore my father-in-law, especially for his wit and sense of humor. He and my mother-in-law are here visiting for the week for my husband Tom’s 60th birthday. My father-in-law will be NINETY next May 5th. During dinner several nights ago he told us that he belongs to a club that meets every Friday for lunch. They call themselves the ROMEOs, an acronym for Really Old Men Eating Out. They go to each other’s clubs, drink a great deal, and eat fun appetizers such as water chestnuts wrapped in bacon and pigs-in-a-blanket, but then are usually too toasted to actually eat lunch. When I’m ninety I hope to have as much joie de vivre as does he!

Moments after the crash, I get airborne and assess the situation form the air. Quickly, I could see the accident situation, cars involved, and the on-coming traffic backing up. If on call, I believe I could quickly asses similar situations for law enforcement, and the fire department. This would quickly, and in real time, give them the ability to predict traffic backups, and potential problems caused by these type of situations. In the case of a fire, I could in a matter of minutes, be airborne and show the potential threat of fire spreading, or additional breakouts form wind and fly away sparks. Just another day of flying above our fine city. (notice how the GPD and GFD have the situation, and the traffic, perfectly under control and flowing!)

It was a lovely but tense Mug Up this morning at YUPO Gallery. Paul Morrison arrived promptly with a bag filled with ransom demand fulfillment. Joey arrived late with Rubber Duck, but refused to release her to Paul, only allowing him a brief viewing of her to prove that she was unharmed (it was not Paul’s RD that had been crushed in the GE press after all). Joey told Paul that he needed to return to Mug Up next Saturday at 9:30am with more ranson, and he would come back again with Rubber Duck and the two “Kind” ducknappers, who would decide then if his ransom was sufficient to warrant RD’s release. This is dragging out much longer than any of us anticipated, and Paul was showing pronounced signs of tension and anxiety. We all pray he can hold out until next Saturday and that this ordeal will reach a satisfactory conclusion. Joey does seem to be enjoying making Paul squirm after all the times Paul has attempted to have RD usurp Homie’s rightful place as mascot of GMG. Karma can be tough.

When’s the last time a rock star this big played in Gloucester? In fact, other than Billy Joel, who jumped on the piano a few times at the Studio many years ago, has any Rock & Roll Hall of Famer ever played Gloucester? Has anyone else who played at Woodstock ever played Gloucester? If you know these answers, please comment.
You can still get tickets (here) to tonight’s show at Gloucester’s UU Meetinghouse featuring Lovin’ Spoonful founder and writer of some of our generation’s most enduring #1 hits, like “Do You Believe In Magic?” “You Didn’t Have To Be So Nice.” “Daydream.” “Younger Girl.” “Did You Ever Have To Make Up Your Mind?” “Summer In The City.” “Rain On The Roof.” “Nashville Cats.” “Six O’Clock.” “Darling Be Home Soon.” “Younger Generation.”
After the show, John will hold a meet & greet and sign records, CDs, posters, Woodstock tickets … what ever memorabilia you bring — and you can get his new CD with David Grisman.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience music that defined a generation up close and personal!

Last night was my first dinner out at a person’s home. Sharon and Chuck King served Southern chicken with rice, and dessert was the view of Gloucester from their deck. Delicious!

I am doing a Coastsweep cleaning of Cressys Beach at Stage Fort Park, and would appreciate your help in spreading the word. I have attached a copy of a poster I have, it has information about the time and date of the event. It is in .pdf format if this is a problem let me know. It is this Saturday, I know last minute, but life is busy I just got around to it now. Can you just post the .pdf and maybe a link to the website. http://www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/czm/program-areas/communications/coastsweep/
