Cape Ann Symphony Holiday Pops Concert and raising money for typhoon victims – Tonight Nov 30 & Dec 1

The Cape Ann Symphony is partnering with the Red Cross to raise funds to benefit those affected by the recent typhoon in the Philippines.

At its concerts Saturday and Sunday — which premiere “Yankee Swap!: White Elephant Gift Exchange,” by Gloucester composer Robert Bradshaw — there will be a real Yankee swap for the charity.

“When the idea of the Yankee swap came up, I thought, what better way to do this than to collaborate with an organization that could really use some help right now,” said David Stotzer, president of the symphony’s board. “I looked at all the devastation from the typhoon in the Philippines and thought of the Red Cross and the incredible relief efforts they provide worldwide. Their work is awe-inspiring and the Cape Ann Symphony is proud to offer our support.”

“The American Red Cross of Northeast Massachusetts is grateful to be the recipient of Cape Ann Symphony’s generosity,” said Frederica Doeringer, executive director of the chapter. “The Yankee Swap is a wonderful way to launch the symphony’s world premiere of “Yankee Swap” for orchestra by Robert J. Bradshaw and at the same time, reach across the world to help those devastated by Typhoon Haiyan.”

Performance: Saturday, November 30, 2013      8:00 P.M.

Performance: Sunday, December 1, 2013             2:00 P.M.
