      1. I just finished listening to it. You were very diplomatic and illustrated both sides well. As someone with 2 small children who would like to walk on the beaches in the winter, I’m clearly on the on-leash side. Our family has had several bad experiences with “friendly” off-leash dogs in public places. If you want your dogs to run free, use the dog park or move to rural area.

  1. I just listened to some of the podcast, mostly what Joey had to say had to get to work, what about the dog park. I just think being one of the people trying to clean our beaches and keep them clean that the dog park was put together by a lot of volunteers and it is there, why are dog walkers not using it? And if they are off leash do the dog walkers see when they take a dump if they are way down the beach, I think not. Use the wonderful dog park that is what the volunteers worked for and won. And if your not going to pick up the dog poop and bring it to a barrel or home don’t bag it. Keep Our Home Port Clean, Thanks. Clean City Initiative

  2. I’m on the fence about off leash. Stella behaves but that is what every dog owner says. She will run up and down Good Harbor Beach until she is frothing at the mouth and I have to explain that she does not have rabies, just really happy. The one thing I do want to outlaw is the leashes that coil up into the handle. Those suckers are dangerous. You either have the dog owner holding a dog that circles then gashes your legs or they get it pulled out of their hand and now there is 20 feet of lethal cord. I was coaching a soccer game and a dog got away dragging that 20 feet of leash with weight at the end. The dog happily circled my soccer players and kids got rope burns on their legs. I got one hell of a rope burn trying to grab it.

  3. Last week I took a walk with a friend at the Seine Field, now a park, temporally at least. There we encountered two dogs off the leash, one small and one rather large. Although the larger one put on a barking display you could tell they ment us no harm, nor mud or sand. The owners close behind and said that they thought us to be coyotes, should have shaved I guess. But it is a very nice and rather private place to run dogs, especially friendly ones.
