Fall Park Cleanup

Dog parks do need maintenance! This fall we plan to add a few yards of gravel, move larger rocks, fill in holes, install some gravel guards at the entrance, and generally spiff the place up!
We need your help. And if you have the following tools bring them along: garden and leaf rakes, hand garden tools, a weed eater, wheel barrows and shovels. Don’t forget your work gloves!

A collection of paintings by local artist William Beal will be on sale at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Rockport, 4 Cleaves Street, Rockport, on Saturday, October 26 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Born and brought up in New York City, and after a long career at WABC-TV in NYC, Beal retired to Rockport. Pursuing his love of art, he became an artist member of both the Rockport and North Shore Art Associations. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will benefit the UUSR.
Light refreshments will be served.

The long awaited sequel to Ann’s Eyes: The Twins of Thacher Island by local author, Barry Stacks, is ready for your reading pleasure. Ann’s Eyes II: Double Vision picks up exactly where the first book ended on September 11, 2001. Of course, as he always does, the story takes place in the author’s hometown of Gloucester, Mass. This is Barry’s tenth book with Publish America. This prolific author has regaled his readers with fanciful tales of vampires, haunted houses, his childhood pool hall hang-out and a new imaginary sleuth.
The two books in the Ann’s Eyes series address a question that has long nagged the author: would it be possible to write a book about historical events using fictional characters? That question was answered in the pages of Ann’s Eyes: The Twins of Thacher Island. That book begins on November 22, 1963 and ends on September 11, 2001. Double Vision begins on 9-11-2001 and delivers the reader through to a horrific ending. Once again your author takes the reader through twists and turns that have become part of our collective history.
Please check the author’s website, gloucesterlostboy.com, for news about two other books that are still in the developmental stages. Barry’s books are edited by long-time Cape Ann resident, Paige Kippen Holmes. She is currently editing the sequel to Tucker Norman (pronounced Tuckah Nawmin), while Barry is writing a third book about Tucker and his serious but comical friends. Look for the second book in the Tucker Norman series in February, 2014.
Rockport Senior Center

December 3rd We are heading to the Merrimack premium Outlets by motor coach. We will leave from the Rockport Depot at 9AM and leave the outlets at 3PM to return home after a day of shopping. Cost is $10.00 and is due when signing up. For more information, Call 978-546-2573.
December 10th We head out to Salem Cross Inn for a delicious luncheon, we also go to the Yankee Candle’s Bavarian Christmas Village in Deerfield, then to Bright Nights, new England’s most elaborate light display, where we will ride through on the motor coach and view the artistry of the lights. $68.00 is due when signing up.
