This is day 16 of not smoking. I have consumed about 8 lbs. of carrots since quitting. I am now being stalked by bunnies. They are everywhere I look, and stare at me with hungry eyes. Help!

Keep up the good work. Better to be stalked by bunnies than to be gasping for breath!! You’re on the right path.

I can’t imagine what you’re going through as you gallantly try to quit smoking. I spend hours every day sitting at my computer writing. I simply get lost in my work and “lite up” whenever the juices start to flow. I’ll remember you in my prayers. Have you given any thought to the fact that you may cause the price of carrots to rise to the point where you’ll no longer be able to afford them. If that happens you may find solace with Gloucester rhubarb or steamed clams.

I love steamed clams, not sure about Gloucester rhubarb, and I’ll quit carrots and switch to celery if the price of carrots goes above $8.50 a bag.

Leporidaephobia: the fear that a bunny rabbit is staring at you. Better that then a rubber duck.

I guess Leporidaephobia is better than Flexilis anatidaephobia – and only you Paul would know about either of them.

Way to go and keep it up! I suppose there are worse things than being stalked by sweet bunnies–like giant peelers for example!

Now’s the time to quit counting the days and just accept the fact that you are not a smoker. You’re not a smoker!!! How great is that and don’t forget about the cauliflower.
Cherry juice and cranberry juice helps too. Mix it up. I did.

Cauliflower is great. I have been eating lots of raw cauliflower too, thanks for that suggestion. I still need to count for awhile – if for no other reason than to give myself a reason to congratulate myself and feel good about it as achieving a goal. Once I hit a month, then I think I can just go on and look forward to a year. Maybe after that I won’t think about it at all; I will just be a non-smoker.

It will be soooo worth it once you really stick with it!!! You will see.. you will start to feel better and better, more energy, healthier things will taste better you’ll get your senses back more intensely (and thus a lot of us that experience weight gain after that)….. and that’s with me now….. but I’m still sooo glad I quit. 14 years smoke free and proud of it…I’ll eventually lose a lot of this weight too.
hoping I sign this correctly..
please feel free to email me if you want support!!!! You have my email now lol… big GOOD LUCK HUGS go go go!!! keep going!!!!!!!!!!!!!! E.J.!!!!

Keep it up! You’re doing great EJ. I’m an ex, too. Had to give up caffeinated coffee because after a couple years of not smoking, I still had the cravings. Every time I had a cup, I wanted a butt. So, a friend told me about the caffeine/nicotine connection and I gave it up. Presto: no more cravings. 19 years later I’m still cranky but at least I don’t want to smoke. Much.

Thanks Kenny. I had quit coffee and switched to green tea in preparation for quitting smoking, but have gone back to coffee again. It felt like I was just giving up too much. I agree with you though, coffee does make you think of a cigarette – and coffee and a carrot doesn’t work. I also appreciate what you say about 19 years later not wanting to smoke – much. I don’t think people who have never been addicted to anything can appreciate the significance of that.

I hope I don’t end up with one of those fake looking orange tans – maybe I’d better add some spinach to create a nicer burnt sienna color.
