Come Down The Dock This Morning

Come down the dock this morning to grab a tshirt(or three), get your picture taken for the blog holding your tshirt, and I’ll have coffee(Starbucks), and if you would like a free GMG Gloucester sticker!  There aren’t many Gloucester Stickers left so his is a limited time offer!

Come down, hang out, have fun, see the inner sanctum of GMG headquarters, and donate for a great cause.

I wasn’t going to pre-sell any but we got a generous donation to buy another 48 shirts from Evelyn at Cape Ann Online so we should have plenty for the G-GAP event at Cape Ann Community Cinema at Gloucester Stage Co on Wednesday night.

“we wanted to thank you for keeping us up-to-date on the going’s on in Gloucester, while we took our car cross country all the way to San Francisco. We did not have your Gloucester sticker with us, just the one that is attached to our car, so we positioned it, that the sticker and the Golden Gate bridge are in one picture. We were staying here for a couple of weeks to enjoy the unseasonably warm weather and to avoid the many snowstorms at home. However, the time has come that we have to get back and so we will be leaving on Monday to drive East until we get home. We don’t know which route we will take, since it all depends on the weather situation, but if you want to receive more pictures from our Gloucester sticker traveling cross country, we could take a few more pictures and send them to you, whenever we have wireless access. Just let us know.

Now make sure, that the snow melts by the time we get home and the sun will shine.

There is a great path through the woods that runs between West Pond and the soccer fields on Western Ave in Magnolia.

Failed Gloucester Landing Proposal at I4 C2

Compare the public access we would have had instead of the fenced off field of weeds that is there now.   Could you imagine the farmers market in this courtyard, how awesome that would be?  With the parking for it tucked away underneath?  All built with private dollars and not taxpayers, but instead increasing our tall rolls?

Paul Frontiero Delivered The Fundraising T Shirts This Morning

Paul brought the first batch of T Shirts for the fundraising effort to benefit the Children of Matteo Russo.  They came out great.  I’ll be here at the dock this morning if you would like to pick one up.  100% of the money goes to the family.   I’d also like to thank the kind folks at Brown’s Yacht yard who bought 14 shirts.  You can come down the dock to pick one up in the early morning or come to the Guerilla Art Project at The Cape Ann Community Cinema (Gloucester Stage Co) this coming wednesday night for the event.

How long have you lived in Gloucester?

30 years — I moved here when I was 14 and went to O’Maley and then GHS

What is your favorite season In Gloucester?

Spring. (although some winter days when it is sunny and clear and cold (but not freezing) take my breath away.  And I love Indian Summer days in Glou, like 9/11/01, which I will always remember as an exquisitely beautiful day in stark contrast to the horror that was happening.)

Do you have any secret outdoor spots in Gloucester where you go to “get away”?

Well, if I told you they wouldn’t be secret…suffice it to say, certain parts of Stage Fort Park..

What is your favorite pizza joint in Gloucester?

LaRosa’s, but Andiamos is gaining speed.

What is your favorite sub shop in Gloucester?

Mike’s.

What place would you go for a romantic dinner in Gloucester?

The Franklin.  Or Elliot’s. Or Alchemy.

What is your favorite bar in Gloucester?

Jalapeno’s.

What is your favorite breakfast joint in Gloucester?

There are so many: Zeke’s, I love.  Sugar Magnolia’s is fantastic.  I  also am partial to LobtsaLand.  Oh heck, and Lee’s too…

What is your favorite local event in Gloucester?

Ladies’ Night.  And the block parties.  And the Schooner Festival (watching from a friend’s balcony while drinking mimosas).

In the summer do you prefer the beach or to be on a boat?

Boat.
Who is your favorite local artist?

My daughters (in elementary school).  And I love sculpture so I’d have to say Dan Altshuler… Favorite artist (deceased): Virginia Lee Burton.

Which is your favorite local beach?

Long Beach.
Who has the best chowder in town?

It may seem sacrilegious, but here goes: I positively hate chowder.

Kathleen Valentine.

Yuck.  Didn’t you see what I wrote above?!

Loved and adored them.  The sense of community and hope and pure fun…

I don’t get out that much (you saw my age in question #1!), but it used to be New Friends who played at the Rondezvous (purposefully misspelled, BTW)…!!! Now it is actually my 8 yr. old on guitar…oh, and Barbara Koen…

The proposal included a right of way for fishermen to get to the waterfront and the dockage to be maintained for the fleet, not pleasure boats.  It also would have had all under deck parking for downtown and a linkage that currently isn’t all that strong with the buildings on Rogers street being an afterthought.  To see it larger and in greater detail click the pic and select “all sizes”

This is what we could have had instead of the  weed infested I4C2 lot in between the Gloucester House and The Building Center. Public access, public parking, and not to mention probably millions in tax revenue and jobs.
