Yes I too will be servingĀ up theĀ traditional Thanksgiving day after turkey sandwich for lunch today, but tonight I will be serving Turkey Pot Pie, a family favorite! Who doesn’t like a TurkeyĀ Pot Pie the day after Thanksgiving for dinner? It’s a perfect way to use up leftover vegetables and turkey meat.

This pastĀ holiday weekend was spent embracing opportunities to experienceĀ “Real Campus Life” whileĀ touring colleges with our twins.Ā After three days ofĀ living off fast food, Starbucks Coffee,Ā and a few campus dining hall delights, a “realĀ meal”Ā was much need when we arrived home late last night. The last half hour of our road trip back home felt like tenĀ as we discussed what meal I could pull together the fastest with ingredients I knew I hadĀ on hand at home.Ā After rattling off several optionsĀ to please everyone’s starving bellies and picky pallets, “Pasta withĀ Peas & Hot Ham” was unanimously requested,Ā made andĀ on the table before the boys finished emptying bags and luggage from the truck!Ā
Ā Pasta with Peas & Hot Ham is fast andĀ easy to prepare and only requires a few key ingredients.Ā This pasta dish is traditionally served for lunch or dinner as main course or side dish,Ā but I think itĀ makes a perfect late night mealĀ for theĀ fall and winter months.Ā Ā Trust me you’ll have no trouble warming up orĀ sleeping after eating a bowl of this heavenlyĀ creamy pasta dish late night!Ā It’s one of our families most favoriteĀ “Italian Comfort Food” dishes!Ā
Caramel Apple CrispA few years ago I created and posted this recipe…It’s become a fall favorite in our home…If you love caramel apples, and apple crisp, this is a must try recipe! I can’t waitĀ to serve it for dessert tonight with a scoop ofĀ Vanilla Bean Gelato using apples from our dear friends Jeremy and Tanya Frost’s fruitful back yard Apple Tree! I have never seen a tree bearing 2 different verities of apples growing from a single tree trunk! Both the red Gala and yellow Golden Delicious tasted delicious! Jeremy held the ladder for me while I hand picked and filled 2 large bags last Saturday! The Frost’s apple tree was a magnificent sight in their yeard this year! Jeremy reported that this years harvest is the best in the past several years, and that this was the first year it beared two types of apples. Thank you for sharing your special tree with me, I’m having a great time in the kitchen whipping up our fall favorite confections and have also created a few new recipes that have been big hits!Ā

Before noon yesterday, I had received numerous requests andĀ inquire to purchaseĀ an “Easter Bunny Cookie.ā Unfortunately because of the exorbitant costs to build and permit a commercial kitchen space I do NOT currently sell Sista Felicia Foods, and simply share my dishes and confections with family and friends. Hopefully in the near future an opportunity to hurtle this giant obstacle presents, enabling my cooked foods to be sold to the general public, but for now I continue to share my passion for food, tradition, and the gathering of family and friends with the public here on GMG. I feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to and share my Step-by-Step recipes and personal experiences celebrating the three āFāsā, Family Friends & Food with the general public though my āSista Dishā post daily on this website, created by my brother Joey.
Ā I quickly turned yesterdayās frustrating morning of “sorry they are not for sale” into a fantastic afternoon, the moment I decide to whip up another massive batch of cookie dough,( my Italian Cookie Dough recipe is included below) and extended an open invitation “treating” the children of my family and friends with an opportunity comeĀ to my kitchen and bakeĀ a Bunny Cookie with me! Ā Within hours an impromptu afternoon of baking Eater Bunny Cookies with all kids in and around my life was well underway! The afternoon couldnāt have been more perfect! As the word got out, three waves of kids between 3 and 6pm found their way over to my kitchen, to craft Easter Bunny Cookies, followed by daughter Amanda, Columbia tennis exchange student Laura, and mother Pat,who latter in the evening after tennis academy training and work made the 4th and final wave of bunny cookie makers ending yesterday’s baking extravaganza! Ā
Several Easter Bunny Cookies left the kitchen with missing ears and feetā¦Maybe GMG Contributor Alicia Cox DeWolfe’s son,Ā Tyler DeWolfe can explain?

Time to start preparing sweet treats forĀ Easter. Its a fun recipe toĀ make with kids and adults of all ages.

Ā A traditional Feast of St Joseph Pasta, Italian bread, Orange andĀ Finochio Salad, Frittata,Ā BakedĀ Haddock, Panelle,Ā Fried Calamari, Smelts, Haddock, Crab Cakes, Muddica Artichoke,Ā Seafood Casserole and St. Joseph Zeppole,Ā were servedĀ with cordials of homemade Limonciello and Arancello. All wereĀ accompanied by many other delicious foods and dessertsĀ that wereĀ prepared by and enjoyed with family and friendsĀ on Thursday evening following our nine day nightly St. Joseph Novena.Ā
Sista Felicia’s Homemade “St. Joseph Zeppole” filled with both traditional vanilla custard, and sweetened ricotta topped with cherries and confectioners sugar!

Ā
YesterdayĀ whileĀ preparing bread for ourĀ Feast ofĀ ST. Joseph, myĀ BFF Dee NobleĀ creatively shaped a Mariposa “String Of Pearls”Ā inspired “Viva St. Joseph Bread” for theĀ altarĀ when I was in the other room fixingĀ a secondĀ batch of bread dough.Ā She knows my loveĀ for all things Mariposa and thought our altar neededĀ a special MariposaĀ touch!

Preparations for “The Feast Of St. Joseph” is under way!Ā All ingredients including fresh produce are officially in the house and ready for tonight’sĀ ceremonialĀ blessing by “Holy Famliy Parish” Pastor Father Jim,Ā taken place this evening at tonight’s Novena.
This morning while whippingĀ up a few batches of my famous St. Joseph ZeppoleĀ forĀ tonight’s Novena Coffee, I decide to fix a special trayĀ forĀ my Comere Bridget Mathews, to serve at their families St. Joseph FeastĀ at the MathewsĀ family homeĀ this afternoon!Ā After all a St. Joseph Feast is not complete without St. Joseph Zeppole Pastry.Ā A TraditionalĀ St. Joseph Zeppole is filled with a pastry custard and or sweetened ricotta cream filling toped with either cherries, candied fruits and orĀ small chocolate pieces,Ā finished with a light dusting of Confectioners sugar. Today I preparedĀ my signature St. Joseph Zeppole Pastry,Ā in an equal assortment ofĀ pastry custard, and sweetened ricotta cream filling, accompanied with sweetened cherries!
Bridget Mathews Writes~ Melodey might have to have dessert before lunch! Thank you Felicia for the zeppole delivery!! They look delish!!!
Each year I prepared 168Ā St. JosephĀ Zeppole for our families Feast, and all 168 Zeppole were enjoyed as fast as the freshly baked pastry shells were filled. This year I’m definitelyĀ planning to make a few dozen more!Ā Ā

Preparations For The Fest Of St. Joseph Is Well Underway!
The planningĀ baking, cleaning, and rearrangement of the house has begun! Over the weekend while cleaning, I decided to make a batch of “Rose Pedal Infused Sugar & Rose Pedal Jelly” using rose pedals left over from Valentines Day. My clever way to recycle the fragrant rosesĀ into a delightful sweetĀ treat of Heart Shaped Linzer Cookies for my Novena Guest,Ā thatĀ will tie in my families “Red Rose” Altar Theme onto the dinner room table where homemade pastries and confectionsĀ are shared during our traditional nightlyĀ “Novena Coffee Time” held afterĀ each Rosary!
